A house I am renovating has a 4-person hot tub that I need to move. It has been emptied of water. Does anyone know how much an empty hot tub weighs? Are there any particular precautions that need to be taken before moving it to avoid damage?

4 semi-burly guys can handle it provided you can get a hand on each corner.

It depends on how many people are in it...
No. seriously, if it's a fiberglass shell type it shouldn't be too bad. I'd venture 2 semi burly guys might be able to handle it unless you've got tricky corners and stairs to work around.

My 6 person spa weighs about 300# empty.
You can stand them up on edge to move them...that's how they're shipped inside a semi-trailer (I've hauled them several times).
Hint for ease of moving....cut some lengths of 2" PVC pipe and do the Egyptian Pyramid method. 4 pieces should do. Works like a charm!

I sold one at my old house. 3 guys, one two wheeler, about 10 minutes. It was heavy, but not a huge deal.
"Are there any particular precautions"
Yeah, empty it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, bad joke. Seriously though, be forewarned, when you stand it one it's side, whatever water is left in the system will pour out (it's a gravity thing). It's not a lot of water, but I'd have towels handy.

Thanks, everyone.
