Title: Conservatives take charge in Norway.
Post by: just Warren on September 12, 2017, 12:31:22 AM
First conservative government there since 1985. (http://www.euronews.com/2017/09/11/conservatives-declare-victory-in-norwegian-election)

I know nothing about what "conservative" means in Norway but the voters did reject the guy who promised tax hikes.

Maybe now they'll do something about their ungrateful guest problem.

Norway doesn't have near the problems that Sweden (who you are probably think of) has.  Norway has pretty much shut it's doors to the recent flood from the middle east.  In fact, they have been deporting quite a few of the ones they had prior to Merkel flinging open the doors of Europe.

Ours are called "conservative" purely as a way to differentiate them from leftist democrats.  I don't know if it means anything anymore in D.C.

Wait, tax hikes? To what? In a country with a 27% VAT the frogs sure did have to boil for awhile to get a conservative. Come to think of it, they got any extra politicians? Probably do better than Ryan and McConnell.

I loved seeing that country. But gas worked out to about $6/ gal in an oil rich nation and a hot dog and coke with the gas would set you back $8. That social democracy welfare state works for three reasons. Small population (less than my state), relatively homogeneous population, and most of all vast North Sea oil wealth underwriting it all.
