Title: Warren apologizes
Post by: Hawkmoon on February 01, 2019, 07:56:34 PM
Sort of:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/elizabeth-warren-apologizes-to-cherokee-nation-for-dna-test/ar-BBT3F1S?ocid=spartandhp

Not a public apology, a private phone call. And she hasn't backed off her claims of Cherokee ancestry, only "clarified" that she is not an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation -- or of any tribe. We knew that.

Too little, too late.

Ramping up for her presidential campaign.

She can ramp up all she wants, this (Her claim of Indian (not dot) ancestery) is going to be her Achilles heel I think.

She didn't apologize for her claims all these years, she apologized for taking the DNA test.

I am truly very, very, sorry; it was a youthful indiscretion.

Only if the *expletive deleted*ing idiots in the news (looking at you too, Mr President) can start using the Fauxcahontas meme.  Calling Warren Pocahontas is just stupid.

Either works. That's why she keeps trying to get away from it.

Wow! I'll bet your face sure is red.

So, like ... if a white person's face gets red when the person is embarrassed, is that cultural/racial appropriation?

I wonder if Ms. Warren accepts the generally-acknowledged truism that "any publicity is better than no publicity."

https://www.bostonherald.com/2019/02/07/chabot-warrens-carefully-crafted-political-image-grows-more-fuzzy/

She's still making the headlines, but I don't think it's helping her campaign. As to speaking with forked tongue, that seems to be exactly what she's doing these days. She's trying to have it both ways -- she acknowledges that she isn't a member of the Cherokee tribe, but she has NOT backed down from her claims that she has Native American ancestry. She can't back down, because if she backs off from that claim she'd be admitting that she has been an outright liar for thirty years.
