Just one part of the "crisis"
Quick overview: after calling his milquetoast Republican opponent Ed Gillespie a racist, it turns out our infanticide supporting Governor is also a racist. (Blackface and KKK costumes just scratch the surface of his history that the worthless Republicans couldn't uncover.)
So, to recap- Democrats were fine with the infanticide but they are likely to force him out after this.
I've read suggestions the Dems released this to get rid of the infanticide headlines, but I am curious why this comes out now.
Oh and why by next week? Because otherwise Trump is calling them out in the SOTU. He is still likely to mention it, but they can claim they addressed it.

More cynical, did a right wing blog really do this to dunk on him or was it orchestrated by the left? Lieutenant gov. is a progressive poster boy. Laughing all the way I actually voted for this lt. gov because they are usually harmless and I thought it was crappy how his party really didn't want to campaign for him. Go to a 1984 year book to see a racist Dem? No, just look at the campaign messaging around Justin Fairfax.

I could be wrong but I thinks the dems are going to keep hammering on this until he aborts himself. After three weeks of looking like fools they're looking to win something, anything, even if it means eating one of their own. It not like they're really going to lose anything by him resigning since the person who would replace him is just as much of a liberal.

I can't help but wonder if dems are doing this for "street cred". They still blame Rs for not tarring and feathering Kavanaugh with no evidence. It seems that a Ginsburg replacement very soon is inevitable. Dems will absolutely dig out the High School yearbooks again.
Northam is a loser for Dems. He has "outed" a radical agenda on the definition of a human that even moderate dems are simply not willing to accept, and in fact, abhor. His replacement is a lefty. He's a perfect throw away pawn. If Dems make a big deal out of getting rid of him, when the conservative Ginsberg replacement gets nominated, and the "dirt" is run through the MSM, Dems will use Northam to show how "they clean their own house" of microagressors (I use that word because note - they are demanding he resign because of a yearbook picture, not because he said a child half outside of the womb is still not a human and can be killed for the mother's "mental health"). They will demand Rs do the same "house cleaning" because Amy Barrett TP'd a native American neighbor's house when she was 14.
Plus, as mentioned earlier in the thread, the yearbook photo is completely usurping his infanticide comments in the MSM.
EDIT: Add another layer of tinfoil. I just now read that the LT Governor is black. It's almost perfect symmetry for dems to oust him for the yearbook photo and replace him with a black LT Governor.

What led to this is the topic we don't talk about, but I can't help to think that the several state rollout of full term abortion is a purposeful strategy to kick off the culture war. War on women disappointed, so time to stir up all the hicks. I maintain a regretful centrist position on that subject just because the level of statism to truly ban it would be shocking, much less muh states rights, etc. But how you can say anytime past a fetus could live outside(23 weeks now) is not murder I can't get. And I think they miscalculated that it is winning politics. Most of progressive Europe is 12 weeks.

I am gleeful that the left is being hoisted by their own petard, but it just obscures the fact how screwed we all are. Look, I don't like Northam, been vaguely aware of him for a long time since I worked at the beach. He stands for all the stuff that makes government benignly evil. But, he has had a long career where many would consider that he has done good work. As a neurologist he undoubtedly saved lives. But we're outraged on the right because he stepped on his crank on the radio, or outraged on the left because he is forcing the rest of them to better hide their skeletons. We all certainly forgot the totality of his life, or that of Kavanaugh. Any sin is now punished by professional death. If that doesn't work, what's next?

The "new" full bore socialist wing (Harris, AOC, etc..) of the democrat party is trying to show the old somewhat socialist dems (Pelosi, Schumer, etc..) that they are now in charge even if that means throwing a few dems under the bus. I am revolted by the fact that he supports killing innocent human beings. The fact that he admits that this includes ones in the process of being born indicates he has no excuse about the victims being "lifeless lumps of tissue" as pro-abortionist usually spout.
He is an evil, evil human being, for this reason alone.
I don't care about him wearing blackface, or having been caused of sexual harassment with zero evidence. He is a monster.

Someone is finally asking the proper question in this mess. How the republicans missed both this picture and be nickname in the college yearbook.
Turns out that the Republican national governors association was responsible for opposition research for the Gillespie campaign. Gillespie wasn't exactly popular with them. They were very lukewarm in their support. I'm working on the theory that this was not an accident. It was deliberately withheld from the Gillespie campaign to hinder his chances.

Me neither. Some of it looks like it was done as a gag or a Halloween costume, but these same people would not hesitate to call a Republican a racist if they had done the same. The Gov over there did call the Republican opponent a racist.
The only time I recall it being done was a group I was in doing a Halloween Scare thing at the school. A few of the guys darkened their face and wore black and jumped out of a side hallway to scare people coming through. If I remember right, I just had a big mosquito net over me.

Read a news blurb yesterday, which I now cannot find, that alleged that Mark Herring only came forward about his black face incident because someone told him there were photos from the party that included him.
He led the charge last week calling for the Governor to resign. But it sounds as if he was fully intending to keep his own sordid, racist past a secret. Nice that the state's top law enforcement official thought it would be a great subject for a cover up.

1968 yearbook? My dad worked in DC in the 60s, often installing metal security bars on stores whilst the riots were in full swing. Racial division was front and center.
I was nine in 1984, in complete hick backwoods Virginia. We had three black kids in class, nobody acted like that and we all tried to dance like Michael, no shoe polish required. A bit of a different time.

They can't let only the Lt. Gov. take the fall in this or the Democrats will lose support from the black community.
They can't let only the Governor resign, because the Atty. General is guilty of the exact same "crime".
They can't force the Governor out of office because he hasn't committed an actual crime.
So, it looks like they're going to go with "sweep it all under a rug and claim it's all in the past and therefore no big deal" and just rely on the press to cover for them when they accuse a Republican of much lesser crimes. (or "crimes" as in the case of the Gov. and AG.) And just whistle past the #metoo implications.
