This reminds me of a Subaru Baja or a small Honda Ridgeline.

It’ll sell to the people who bought the Explorer Sport Trac pickups. Looks very much like an updated one.

If there was a name and vehicle they shouldn't try to revive, Maverick is it.

Aaand, it looks like a dual cab Subaru Brat.

Smaller than a Ranger? So it's closer in size to a real Ranger?

BTW: Ever seen a Maverick with a lowered roof line? Amazing how much it looks like an old Camaro

Ain't that the truth.

Next I suppose they'll revive the Pinto.

So something for people that don't need a truck?

Or a trunk.

It's like the worst of both worlds.

Meh, like someone else said, it's kinda like a Brat. It will probably get some following of city people that like beach activities and want to keep sand out of the inside of their cars, weekend campers at developed campgrounds, etc.

It's not for me, but it might find a niche.

Looks nothing like my Ford Maverick...

And I don't think the Maverick had the 'splody problem that the Pinto did....

"Smaller than the Ranger" is a misnomer. The Ranger is surprisingly big for a supposedly "compact" pickup. The Maverick looks to be about the size of the first-gen Ranger. The truly compact truck was the Courier. Surprisingly utilitarian for it's diminutive size.

^^^I think the Ranger, much like my Tacoma, is marketed as a 'mid-size' truck.

Many small cars and even some larger cars had the exact same issue at the time. The Pinto had the misfortune of becoming the media poster child for doing it

That's when you pull the motor out sell to some pony stock racer, drop in a SB ford and a narrowed 9" and hit the strip.

I'm not sure what that is, but it's not a pickup.  It does remind me somewhat of the old Subaru Brat, looks more like the current Baja.
I thinks it's meant for those that want a stylish pickup that will never be used as such.

IIRC the Baja has been gone for several years, like over a decade.

To me it looks like the newer Honda Ridgelines.

That rendering won't be the Maverick, as it is a photochopped version of the Explorer that ended production last year.

Do you mean the Explorer ended production or it is just getting a make over?

That version of the Explorer ended production.  There is an all-new one this year.  On a side note, while it may not look radically different, it has returned to its roots of being rear wheel drive!
