I'm having this burning discharge from my Iowa Caucus...
Carbon Monoxide, sucking the life out of idiots, 'tards, and fools since man tamed fire.

As a bit of comic relief, I did hear the best-ever summation of Romney. A "Powerpoint mentality". So true.

On the other hand, what's this from CNN's Election Center?

Barack Obama
Supports extending the assault weapons ban. Supports national law against carrying concealed weapons, with exceptions for retired police and military personnel. Supports limiting gun sales to one per month.

Uh...hell no?

I honestly don't know why anyone supports Obama, other than that he is 1) Black; 2) not Hillary.  It is like he got his agenda from Central Casting.

They support him because he spouts empty platitudes that make them Feel Good. He doesn't actually say anything, so because he makes them feel good, they assign their own beliefs to him as if he said them.

It's a frighteningly effective strategy, actually, for masses that are easily led.

I refer to Obama as a modern day Lenin.

I refer to Hillary as the modern day Stalin.

I call Biden the devil and Kucinich the court jester.

Edwards is the blatant commie, with his scary speech about "We must take power away from the corporations, they won't negotiate"....What, nationalize them?

He reminds me more of a used car sales man, so does Romney. Giuliani reminds me of a strip club owner.

Good, I'm glad it's scary, because there are plenty of us who want to see corporations castrated.

What we need is more Mom and Pop car makers and family aircraft manufacturers. Screw GM and Boeing. rolleyes

Wanna plane ticket to Venezula ??  Hugo has been catrating (e.g. nationalizing) companies, left and left.....

It's worked so well in, Russia, Cuba, China (until the 1980's), Eastern Euorpe, Zimbabwe, etc, etc.....
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Which is why of course we have an electoral college. Unfortunatly an electoral college that apparently, at least for a long time, wholeheartly supported empty platitudes that make enough Feel Good to keep someone in particular in the WH.

You conservatives.   rolleyes

Conservatism died with Barry Goldwater. Those you consider ''conservatives' today, including Reagan, both Bushes, their advisors and promoters, Kristol, Limbaugh, Hannity, et alia., are all 'neoconservatives'.  They've hijacked the word because it serves to unite and polarize well meaning folks like you against the scarecrow of  'liberalism' as the root of all evil.

Neoconservatism is opposite conservatism particularly with regard to:

Taxes and spending- Neoconservatives promote 'tax cuts' but only for the already wealthy.  At the same time, they transfer this tax burden to the working middle class in the form of increased Social Security taxes (as did Reagan), and shifting of other corporate expenses.  This amounts to a transfer of wealth in the trillions of dollars from us to them and the eventual destruction of the middle class.

Neoconservatives are statists who support big, intrusive, expensive central government (not unlike the Kremlin of the former USSR). They have no problem borrowing unlimited amounts of money (stealing from future generations) in support of this goal.

Expansionist Imperialism- Neoconservatives maintain a sort of 'manifest destiny' worldview of dominance and will not hesitate to use the U.S. military to enforce same.

There are other differences, but those are the most glaring.

Riley: I pretty much agree with your assessment, but why put Reagan in the neo-con category? He was as much a Goldwater conservative as Goldwater. He just got played by Tip O'Neil in his first term......

Charby: I wouldn't say Obama is like Lenin--not enough political savvy. He's more of a Trotsky or a Chamberlain--a milquetoast socialist who has no idea what is being brought to bear against him.....

Comparing Hillary to Stalin is a grave insult......to Stalin. If she gets in office, she'll make Stalin look like a slacker.....

Mike: Sorry about your aching caucus. Rub a little Icy-Hot into it, and it should feel better......
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

Just in case somebody here doesn't know this:

NEVER PUT ICY-HOT ON YOUR WEDDING TACKLE!  WASH YOUR HANDS DIRECTLY AFTER APPLICATION TO PREVENT ANY OF IT GETTING ON YOUR MAN BITS!

It's an easy enough mistake... but you'll only do it once!

Putting icyhot or a similar product in someone's jockstrap if they leave their locker unlocked is one of the oldest locker room pranks there is, you realize.  cheesy

Riley, I've read your lecture about "real conservatism" several times.  It doesn't even annoy me anymore.  I actually went through that phase you're going through a few years ago.

No, fistful, you've got it backwards.  You see, I've outgrown the phase you're in now.  You don't know it yet because you're not there yet.  When you get there, you'll be way more than annoyed.
