I don't know if chips are standard, but it makes me want to check all of my guns.  Especially the HK.

You own a gun you haven't completely stripped?

I think my P7 predates that. The chip would have to be the size of an old Atari cartridge.  cheesy

Yes, several.

I haven't stripped any of my revolvers because I don't know enough about them to be able to put them back together.  Haven't really felt a desire to learn, either.

Frankly, revos don't need a complete strip-down, IMO.

Take off the stocks to get at the lockwork, go aftr it with pipecleaners & solvent, and you're done as far as necessary dis-assembly.

And remove the rest of the metal parts from the gun.

Two Cold Soakers auto reply....

Steve is unable to reply to this thread.  He was mysteriously shot in the stomach by his microwave oven.
There are no further details available at this time.

A microchip will be as easy to remove/deactivate as the <expletive> lock on an S&W revolver.

How to mess up a microchip? Get a nail punch and a hammer. Should be able to destroy any microchip known to man.

Geronimo45,

Destroying a chip you can see is one thing - how about 100 or so duplicates imbedded inside a cast polymer frame?

Again, the microwave. Chuck the polymer frame in the ol' magic toaster for 10 seconds, and any chips will be fried.

Certainly microwaving will wreck an RFIF chip etc; the question is, how much mw does it take to do anything bad to a polymer frame or other material.

Guys, don't sweat it.  Just wrap your guns in tin foil.  Works for my noggin.

You know, piezo barbecue igniters produce a nice fat high-voltage spark...

Alternately, start sticking probes from a taser in interesting places on that chip.  Won't stay working long, with no real external sign of damage.

But I think the people to answer this question are white-hat RFID hackers - the sort of people building keyless door locks and getting microchip implants for fun, or to do it first; the people sending letters to Mobil warning them Speedpass is easy to sniff, if anyone cared.

At the Ron Paul campaign office we were handing out tinfoil along with instructions on how to prevent the CIA and the Bush administration from listening to your thoughts through your cell phones.

You know it was the manufacturers of tin foil that torpedoed Paul's campaign, right?  I mean, they can't have the conspiracy ending all of a sudden.  It would ruin them.
