Good luck getting one!  We've got people flying in from all over the country to line up for them.  I don't even plan to try.

Now, at that point, doesn't it become more cost effective to just buy a new one?

I thought about driving, because four people can split the gas bill on a 700 mile trip in a 40MPG car pretty easy, but flying?

I thought the same thing, jefnvk.  There was actually a rumor that some group of folks were coming from Germany.  if you had some free miles you could use, that might make more sense but even then between a hotel and missed work (never mind the fact that you have no guarantee of getting the laptop) you're better off on eBay, no?

That is what is keeping me and my buddies from driving down.

I think sometimes, people are just too caught up in the price, without expenses to get to that price.

See it all the time on eBay too, people bidding something up to just under retail, that is used, and then having to add a whole lot on in shipping, too.

Yeah, but I like computers.  Can never have too many working computers sitting around.  I have here a Sun Ultra 5 made IIRC in 96, that still runs fine.  Slow, but fine.

Yes, but its got wireless built in so it will make a nice "sitting on the porch surfing" type computer. Especially for those of us with newer Macs. Especially especially for only $50!

There is no limit to the amount of money that some people are willing to spend to get something for "free".
