What've you done Mike?

I put mine out last December, and it was all my own fault. Still not right.
I do not like, when with me play, and I think that you also

How bad is it, Mike? Any pain in other parts of your body, such as your legs?

feeling the same myself right now

I swear by massage therapy. I've had reasonably good success with a good chiropractor, but massage therapy is better.

I swear at doctors.

Better now, thanks.

In college I broke my back and tore some muscles.

It's not been the same since.

And yes, I have a gut, far larger than I should.

Massage therapy can be helpful if it's aggressive enough, not the surface 'feelgood' rubdown.   Rolfing is another option, but requires a minimum number of sessions (six, I think).   Chiropractors can help if they understand the underlying medical problem. but should always be willing to refer to a doctor or phsyical therapist when they don't.

For example, I went to a chiropractor for years for neck and shoulder pain.  After an adjustment, I'd be ok for awhile, but then the pain would return.  I finally went to an orthopedic surgeon who correctly diagnosed a nerve damage problem from and old motorcycle accident (I'm a 'winger', the scapula sticks out from the ribcage due to weak muscles on account of the nerve damage).  Anyway long story short a physical therpist showed me exercises to do that substantially reduced the pain.

Mike, I assume you're talking about lower back pain?  A big gut (yeah, I've got one too) aggravates the problem, especially with a previous injury.   Ask your doctor, he'll tell you the same thing.

Feel better, guy.  A lttle heat, Ibuprophen, slow stretching if you can take it, and otherwise easy going.  IME (my wife's actually), rest with legs up seem to be what it takes.

Muscle relaxants and massages.

Actually,  I need to get to a orthopedic surgeon.

Why do I continue to live with pain?  It just doesn't make sense that I have put off getting my back problem addressed.

The drugs, the massages and chiropractors are obviously masking underlying problems.

Don't be like me,  be agressive and get to the bottom of the problem.  Living with low to intense pain every day is a drain.

My turn,  whine, whine.

The root of the problem is that I broke my back in college 20 odd years ago, and it will never, ever, be completely right again.

Did you break lumbar vertebrae?

I hope this is a sign of things to come for me, I broke my back 18 years ago, its always hurt since, but a dull pain, some numbness in my legs if I stand in place too long, I have always laughed at younger people I've worked with when they complain about their back hurting.

Mike - if you have an x-ray pic you can scan - email me a copy.  A/P and lateral lumbar I'd expect, or relevant area if higher.  From my old days as an osteopath maybe I can give a suggestion or two.  Not same tho as proper exam but x-ray pics can tell quite a bit.

I cracked several lumbar vertebra, and tore a bunch of muscles.

Chris,

I don't have an x-ray. Last one was taken in 1986.
