Hillary hints at Veepdom
« on: March 09, 2008, 05:11:50 AM »
Did anyone hear Hillary's soundbyte hinting at Veepdom?  Several talking heads were saying they think that either one will offer the other the Veep spot.  Unfortunately that makes them an unbeatable combination......

No, I think that actually makes them a lot more beatable.

People do not want Obama because he's a socialist. People HATE Hillary. That'd mobilize all Republicans like a freaking Pearl Harbor.

I just don't agree.
Sure alot of thinking people know that Obama is a socialist.  And alot of people are being sucked into his cultish status.  They have no idea or care for what he believes in and stands for, besides buzzwords like change.
Hillary mobilizes the republicans, but without a serious republican candidate I don't see the religious right coming out in mass numbers.  Unless the old man gets a very good religious right veep selected.

How about Huck? We know he's definitely for 2A, too, and is unlikely to be quiet if a challenge to it comes up.

Seems the smartest choice.  McStain gets the "you're not a true neoconservative" thing....but with Huck on his ticket promising to align us with gods law set up the religious right vote I think they might beat Hillbama.

I think Obama is smarter than that. Plus he'd have to sleep with one eye open.

I'm guessing he's also going to go with a more conservative, white, probably southern kind of male person.

If Hillary gets the nod, I'm saying she goes with Edwards.

Yike, I wouldn't want her as Veep.  She'd be more trouble than she's worth.  A lot of Dems seem to want this combination, however.  They call it the 'dream team'.  And, frankly, the two of them together would handily beat McCain.  But, remember, Edwards still holds some delegates, and he could be the 'kingmaker', so it's anybody's ballgame at this point.

If Hillary was veep, there will be job openings in the Secret Service.  Probably have to double the coverage on Obama; worried about an inside job. heh.

Much as I dread a President Hillary, I also dread the assassination of President Obama.  That would keep Jackson and Sharpton in tall cotton for the rest of their pathetic lives.  And they even have the Nation of Islam to do their dirty work for them, if they want to bring it off themselves.

feh.  The days of some gapped tooth hillbilly killing a POTUS are long over. It would take a highly sophisticated, organized and well heeled group to accomplish that, IMO.

I don't think racists are anywhere near that smart.

I can't imagine Obama would be dumb enough to pick Hillary as his running mate. But then he is a dumb socialist, so I guess anything is possible.  grin

You really have to hand it to Hillary.  She's losing to Obama, and yet she still has the chutzpah to suggest a shared ticket with HER at the top and him as the veep.

Not.

Yeah. Most criminals get caught because they don't have the 'will' to commit the crime.  Not because they're dumbasses in the first place.   laugh

Most criminals get caught after they've completed their crime.  The police don't often prevent crimes from happening, they merely mop up afterwards and try to catch the guy who did it.  And the sad truth is that smart criminals often get away with it.

You can probably pull off just about any crime you want if you don't care about getting caught (and possibly killed) afterwards.  Clipping the POTUS should require more brains than knocking over the typical Stop 'n Rob, but I doubt it's impossible.

Far from it, actually.

Hinckley was standing in a crowd that had full view of Reagan as he walked to his car.

After that incident there were massive changes in how the president was moved.

You're speaking about LBJ, the founder of the "Great Society", who pushed more civil rights legislation than any other president?

Officer Barney Fife of the Podunk PD is light years away from the training, equipment, and unlimited resources of the U.S. Secret Service.  They have surveillance and intell capabilities second to none on the planet.  They can transport the President to practically any place on the globe and assure his safety.

Comparing them with some local flatfoot is beyond ludicrous.

Question, do you believe that there was anything actually 'Great' about the Great Society?

riley you ever been near the pres?  hes well protected but you can only do so much.i don't envy the secret service guys.  when i worked at the mayflower we hosted quite a few functions where the npotus made an appearance and while the security was intense it is still a big order to fulfil. if a couple of employees put their heart and soul into it they could get to him.  and the us secret service is a bunch of cub scouts compared to the isreali version.  we had the israeli delegation staying with us during the peace talks and their security was intense  very different mindset than the secret service.  to a great degree the safety of the potus is assured by the fact he is potus. . if one of the coworkers were to get weird someone would snitch quick.the secret service depends on keeping the bad guys guessing by changing plans and keeping itinerarys secret   but the ira caller described the reallity real well after the bomb plastered into the hotel wall missed thatcher  "you got lucky today. you have to be lucky everyday. we only have to be lucky once.

I'd think that some crackpot nutjob isn't going to get lucky.  Its going to take a few dedicated nutjobs working as a team to coordinate such a task.  Too many people involved and it ain't going to happen.  Too few and there won't be enough resources.
A few times I've worked ATC with POTUS coming through an airport.  At Brownsville there were some woods bordering the area he was to load and unload AF1.  I won't reveal details on what they did, but they pretty much made it that some lone sniper wasn't going to be able to pull of a grassy knoll shot.  Not to mention the Helos and local PD patrolling the area.  There wasn't a perimiter, there were numerous perimiters.  During announced travel I'd think the security is very thick.  Most people wouldn't have the inside knoweldge to hit 'em in transit during that unannounced travel.
But do I think that would stop some whackjob supremeicists from trying?  I think that we'll see at least one cognizant plot during Obama's reign of terror.  But I don't see them getting close enough to pull it off.
I do think that the idea of Hillary pulling off an inside job is ludicrous.  I think even the Clintons have standards.  They only kill off witnesses to thier misdeeds.
