I thought I heard that Obama also said he was going to order the joint chiefs to do something about Iraq or Afghanistan, not realizing the JCS doesn't do operations.  Now, I didn't myself know the limits of the JSC's authority, but anyone running for POTUS should have.

Around here, a "dollar bill" always refers to the $1 denomination.  Any other value, such as $20, always has the value as part of the name, such as a "twenty-dollar bill."  One of those is never called a "dollar bill."

Perhaps it is different in your part of the country.

Always a non-conformist, I have no idea what the norm is in my part of the country.  I've heard people claim that a "dollar bill" is always a one-dollar bill.  Just never made sense to me. 

If you're talking about a bunch of bills of different denominations, what do you call it?  A bunch of federal reserve notes?  I just call it a bunch of dollar bills.  Or a fat grip of money, I suppose.
