Malkin says the Sandlers are upset
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/06/the-missing-snl-bailout-skit-and-the-soros-connection/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herb_Sandler

Political and other causes supported by the Sandlers

According to New York Times reporter Matt Bai, the Sandlers, along with Democratic donors George Soros and Peter Lewis established America Votes "to coordinate various get-out-the-vote drives during the 2004 election". The Sandlers also sent their son-in-law, Steven Phillips, as their representative to the October 2005 meeting of the Democracy Alliance at the Chateau Elan near Atlanta, Georgia.[4]
[edit]ProPublica
In November 2007, Sandler announced that he had taken on the task of helming the board of a new organization, ProPublica, and that his family foundation would be giving $10 million a year of support to the group.[5]
Slate journalist Jack Shafer raised questions about ProPublica's ability to provide independent, non-partisan journalism, given the nature of Sandler's other political donations, which include "giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democratic Party campaigns."[6]

Political humor goes best in Round Table.

Can this be moved back?  It seems the sudden interest in protecting NBC copyright doesnt extend to the anti-Palin humour, which is (as a Youtube search will reveal) still widely available.  This is a political story, albeit it started with humour.

Some great material in that sketch.

"George Soros: Owner, Democratic Party."

Soros: "So, what became of that $700 billion?  Well, basically it belongs to me now."

[to Bush]: "You're not to speak.  I don't like you."

Yes it does.  They did the exact same thing after they aired a bit that suggested Todd Palin was the father of Bristol's baby.

There are some rumblings that the "People who should be shot" tag is the deal breaker

Seems like a simple fix to drop in a new slugline

"People who should be shot" is actually a more common joking description that people probably think.

Anyone know where to find that sketch with the NYT reporters, who suggested there was incest in the Palin family?   They crossed the line with that comment, but it was almost as funny as the bail-out sketch, and completely at the expense of the Times.

[Holding picture of a side-by-side shotgun] "Does anyone know what this is?"

"A revolver?"

"A semi-automatic assault weapon?"

"That would be a .357 Magnum, aka a zipgun, aka a derringer."

http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/07/flash-snl-rewriting-bailout-skit-didnt-meet-their-standards/

New updates says that SNL is "rewriting" the skit to take out the "People who should be shot" line.  I agree with Fistful that they really have done worse and are just reacting because the pissed off the wrong people.

Here is a BitTorrent Link. Torrents are a wee bit harder to kill so this should be up for awhile.

Actually, I didn't say that.  Maybe that was one of the impostors.

I thought maybe y'all were talking about that Lawrence Welk skit.  I've watched it about a dozen times, and it just keeps getting funnier.  (but you probably have to be of a certain age...)

The bailout skit was shockingly honest.  You don't see that very often.  I hope they didn't edit out too much -- like maybe change the "should be shot" subtitle to "should be in prison."
"It's good, though..."

Come on now... why do you guys have to see conspiracy in *everything*?

Of course it was a completely random static discharge which resulted in the disappearance of all original records of the skit :D

I downloaded the complete video yesterday from bittorrent. I have it available IF anybody wants it. Better have a broadband connection though, as it is almost 20 MB.

No need to violate copyright law and hand out your own copy.  They've reposted the video minus the 'These people should be shot' slug line.

Here:  http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/c-span-bailout/727521/

I still can't find the bit that contained a Bristol & Todd Palin incest jab.  They must be in bed with the Republicans!
