I read the first few pages, then skipped some until the end. Never seen anything like it! I can't believe that the kid crank-called the guy he ripped off, after all the pages already dedicated to "outing" him.

Scary to think what people can dig up on you, when they really want to...

I think it is funny when people think they are anonymous online. The guy deserved the ownage and it is the best example of an online lynching that I've ever seen. Hats off to the boys and girls at Pirate.

Lil Ol' Charlie Wenzel is a candidate for "How stupid can people be?"  Lord luvva duck, that boy would have to double up smarts to make stupid.

I really don't think he's gonna enjoy life for a while.  "Wenzeled" as an Internet word?  Wow!

I dug up a load of crap on a former boss once, all public record.  Seems he didn't exist before about 1985, and the guy was 60 years old.  Also, he'd had a bankrupcty, while he was CFO of the company we worked for!  They fired the guy before I got to use it, and now he's the CFO of a competitor.

There appear to be several people on that forum who rate high on my scale of 'internet psychopath'.

Especially the guy who tried to compare our braindead wouldbe scammer to terrorists.

A bit bitter are we Blackburn?  Wink  Your post is more fun than the original thread.

The kid's a spoiled-rotten little dumbass, who needs a lesson taught to him.

But that forum scares me with the angry mob, pitchfork and torch mentality, headin' down to San Luis Obispo to kick his butt for the sake of fellow forum members.

This observation is from somebody who's armed to the teeth, and very much an eye-for-eye kinda guy.

Then somebody from that forum called him with a death threat?  Very nice.  Sad

Nah, Gewehr, it's just the Keyboard Kommandos of the Internet.  Just like the "kill'em all" crowd at TFL or THR.   On the 'Net, it's Gonna-do; in real life it's Never-do.  No different from the doofi who do the Cammie thing at gunshows.

actually... while reading that, I started thinking about the whole Bearcoat thing. Yes, THR was MUCH more mature about it, but the "mentality" was still the same: mess with one of us, and we'll all get pissed...

Ok... maybe not if you mess with Spacemanspiff, but anyone else... Wink

"There appear to be several people on that forum who rate high on my scale of 'internet psychopath'."

I agree. This thing has gone WAY to far. It is a mob.
I would have no problem at all if someone went to SLO and beat the crap out of him: he had it coming. I wouldn't have any problem at all with them digging up all this personal information about him: again, he has it coming.
BUT, when they posted pictures and resumes of his parents, and started digging up personal information about the girl next to him in the high school yearbook, and stuff about his girlfriend: that is way over the line. That is IMO just as bad as what Charlie did.
A few people tried to step in and use some reason with these people about not harrassing other people or dragging other people who had nothing to do with this down with Charlie and they immediately became the next target of the mob.
That whole thing is out of control. While I give them credit for tracking this jerk down, most of the hundreds of posts are just e-toughguys who are getting attention and running with it.

Looks like the Internet Keyboard Kommandos haven't toned down their bloodlust, yet.  Shades of "Deliverance" on that forum, some members clearly want an all-out lynching.

Luckily, the Wikipedia entry was deleted.

I'm proud that things would never have gotten to the angry villager with pitchforks level at THR, even with the BearCoat thread.  I'll throw money in with Blackburn for the legal defense of our hero Charlie Wenzel.  Even though he's a total schmuck, I'll help him hire a lawyer after he or his family puts a bullet hole in the head of the first redneck who shows up at San Luis Obispo and tries to do him bodily harm.

I hope you're right, Art.  I hope they're nothing but faceless Internet Keyboard Kommandos, hiding behind their IP addresses.  Sad

One more for the Blackburn/Gewehr98 approach.

Did the guy screw up? In spades.

Was he a jackass about it when called? Oh yeah.

Did he deserve Ownage Royale? You betcha.

Physical violence? uh...no.

Hmm.  I think things have gotten a little out of hand on Pirate 4x4.

I think everyone agrees that the kid's feeble attempt at a scam/dishonesty was wrong, wrong, wrong, but issuing an internet fatwa is a little scary.

Hey, how about a poll?  Pick the moment that you think this thread crossed the boundary:

1. Posting his address so that people could come and threaten him in person and his email, his cell phone number, IM name, etc so that people could call him, message him, email him, etc. every hour of the day and night

2. Scanning in and posting his high school yearbook pictures and baby (!) pictures

3. Showing pictures of his mom (a resource teacher) and his dad (pilot and retired Navy Lt. Commander) along with their life stories

4. The satellite images of his house

5. Photoshopped images of Wenzel having unspeakable things done to him

6. Searching his credit history

Any other candidates?  Any highlights I'm missing?
