IE 7 VS Mozilla Firefox Question for the pros among you.
« on: November 08, 2009, 10:14:54 PM »
Until recently I used IE as my browser.  It got slower and slower to the point of my wife threatening me if I groused one more time.  (I hate waiting!)  I vaguely remembered hearing about a different browser called Mozilla Gorilla, or some such name.  I googled it and came up with Mozilla Firefox which I immediately downloaded and installed.  It is fantastic.  Wow, am I impressed so far.  My wife says I am off the endangered species list now.

Question:  When I was using IE 7 there was an icon on the bottom right of my screen which allowed me to change the magnification of whatever I was trying to read, or even see in some cases.  I could set it to 125% or more and then go back to normal if the type font was large enough.  Firefox does not have that feature as a feature on the toolbar and so far I have not found how to add it.  Do any of you pros know how to add it as a feature.?  I could sit here and hunt for a few days or weeks but I figure you young'uns probably know right where to go and can tell me.

Help

Up in the left corner, you'll see a bunch of tabs. Click on "view", and then "zoom in". Repeat as necessary.

Or, you can hit control and +.....

Or hold control and move the mouse wheel.

There is also an option under "View" to zoom only text. I do that on my netbook, as it keeps the screen within the limits of my monitor but let's me read easily.

The control-scroll thing works in other programs, too.

We spent 15 minutes at our last staff meeting teaching my boss how to do it.

I just tried your advice and it is fantastic.  Not only am I OFFFFFFF the endangered species list, but my wife is so grateful that she offered to send you a batch of cookies if you PM your address.

It also helps me delay having to spend $600 on new glasses.   Thnks, thnks, thnks

=D

No cookies necessary.  Knowing I helped you stay out of trouble with the wife is reward enough.  I know how hard that can be, my wife is ~9 months pregnant. :O

I wouldn't want those cookies to go to waste.  You can send 'em my way.

It is extremely hard to keep from doing that in a meeting, in front of the boss.

I use a microsoft intellimouse.  It has a neat button on the side.  Mash it and up pops a magnified window.  Mash it again and it goes away.  Totally useful.

Because it's a Microsoft product. They hold several thousand patents and copyrights on bloatware.

Yeah, but it's willing to share with Adobe.
