Hi.

I need a can of 5.45x39. A huge boatload came in around Christmastime, and as usual, I'm behind the curve. Century Intl. Arms was shipping them for $150 each, shipping included.  Out of stock.  sad

AIM was selling it for $160, shipped. Out of stock.  sad

SOG wants $190, shipping not included. No way...  undecided

Atlantic Arms has it for $179, shipped, Classic Arms is about the same. Can I do better?

Dans ammo has it for $145.Shipping is not in that price, but I've done fine buying 7.5 swiss from them. http://www.dansammo.com/ammo.asp

Checked Grafs? Dans also has the 2,160rd wood case of 2 spam cans for $279. Wish ammo I wanted was that cheap.

Nope on Graf's. They have lots of commercial stuff. They also say my GP-11 is in stock again. May have to play the backorder game, because it is probably not really in stock.

Thanks so much!

I saved enough at Dan's $304... SHIPPED, that I was able to buy two cases (and hopefully get the can-opener).

That's almost like the heyday of the "old days" when Chicom 7.62x39 was going for as little as $79 a 1000 round case.

My 5.45 SAR2 finally paid off.  smiley I was ALLWAYS out of synch with the "deals" on ammo and guns, and I've now landed two. A Draco AK pistol for only $358 shipped to my Kitchen-table FFL, and a crate of 5.45 at $.14 a round.

Of course now that I've got a halfway decent stack of ammo for it on the way, My SAR nees an appropriate PSO scope for that nifty side-rail...

They were just out yesterday and the site wouldn't let you order.  angry Oh well.. $282.22 For 2160 rounds there.

I have a couple of span cans around, but I try not to shoot that stuff much.  My cleaning habits aren't great sometimes.  I try to just shoot the Wolf/bear ammo when I do.  I don't know if there is any great difference in performance.

These guys have the silver bear for not a great deal more.  I might rather buy this for fun stuff.

I should've bought some more when I had the chance. I have half a can left from when I bought it at $70/can.

I feel personally responsible, I was just pointing out a deal, not encouraging you to kill the household budget.  grin At least Mrs. AJ doesn't know where I live.

Like when PMC .223 was $150/1K, or primers were $70/5K, or I could get Berry's 9mm bullets for $29/1K etc., etc. I think we all wish we'd bought more.

I did buy more when they were at those prices.  My ammo and reloading corner of the garage will never get blown away by a Wisconsin tornado, muhahahahaha!  Evil

I wasn't bright enough to buy supplies for 80K rounds/year when I was only shooting 40K. I had the money too. Those were the days. Loading 9mm for $65/1000.  At least I have plenty of brass, need to solve the rest of the problem.

No, my total for last year was about 5K, including rimfire. From 00-04, I hit it hard, at the range at least 3 times a week, a case of factory .45 always in the trunk. Then I found IPSC, then I found reloading. Down hill from there. 1,000 rounds of centerfire per range session was nothing. Ahh, the good old days. I'm going to be insufferable when I am actually old enough to bitch about the good old days.  cheesy And I was shooting about 30-40K those years, just should have been buying double when it was cheap.

If you like shooting don't get married or elect socialists. I made the former choice, one day she will build me a reloading room, if only to keep me out of sight.  rolleyes

IPSC, and practicing for IPSC, will really test your ammo/reloading skills and budget.  Thousands of rounds per weekend, when I was hot and heavy into the game.   undecided

You all shoot way more then I realized.  shocked  I burned through, maybe 400 rounds of centerfire last year, and probably 500 rimfire.

That is sort of what I do.  I don't do a lot of just plinking anymore beyond 22LR.  I tend to just do my target shooting.  I ran a couple of mags through my Tantal yesterday, but that was just playing after shooting another rifle for a couple hours.

Answered last night.

Total blind luck on my part. The notification is so tiny up there, I miss them for weeks at a time on occasion.
