Dems freak over Sarah Palin talking about Paul Revere
« on: June 08, 2011, 04:18:52 AM »
So we pulled into Hawaii today and we were able to get regular tv and when flipping through the channels I come across Chris Mathews Hardball,  [barf], and on it I here them talking about something that Palin had said and he kept going on and on. Here is an interesting quote from the letter to the editors I found in the LA Times website when trying to see what others were saying, "The historical fact is that few colonials even possessed firearms. There was a chronic problem arming the militias. It was only when they were mass produced that guns were mythologized as "American as apple pie." Like the marketing of cigarettes, it was so chic, so good for digestion, that it worked." http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/letters/la-le-0608-wednesday-20110608,0,4623139.story Although here is a surprising article at the LA Times that I found, http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2011/06/sarah-palin-says-paul-revere-warned-the-british.html
"so I ended up getting the above because I didn't want to make a whole production of sticking something between my knees and cranking. To me, the cranking on mine is pretty effortless, at least on the coarse setting. Maybe if someone has arthritis or something, it would be more difficult for them." - Ben

That person is probably getting their info from Michael A. Bellesiles, whose "scholarship" on that issue has been very harshly and publicly denounced as dishonest by his fellow academics.

My thought exactly. There's historical revisionism going on, but it wasn't Sarah Palin doing it.

Seriously? People still hold up Bellesiles as a historian?

Even my socialist American History professor understands the role of firearms ownership in American history.

He confirms their bias. Thus, people will believe what he wrote despite his being discredited.

What is really causing the libs to choke on their own venom is that historians, even liberal historians, have informed the Lame Stream Media that Palin is correct.  Although the lib historians had to add that Palin just, merely, lucked out as she is really stupid and couldn't have known she was right...just a lucky misstatement that just happened to be true. [popcorn]

According to their ideology, she's stupid. Thus anything she says that sounds stupid but was correct was only luck.

She just went through a tour of Paul Revere's house. OF COURSE she knew what she was talking about. That she was distracted dealing with the public while answering made her delivery rather poor, but if you knew the whole story, what she said was obviously correct and she was using it to make a point about the purpose of the second amendment.

Also, after this incident, I now know much more about the history of Paul Revere's ride than I did before. Bravo, Governor, bravo.

Me too.  Very interesting footnote, to be sure.  I don't know if I knew it when I was a kid, and have just forgotten over the years, but I either didn't know or forgot that Revere had been captured.

I knew he'd been captured. I knew nothing about what happened after he was captured, though. I was especially interested by the way the British responded by putting a pistol to his head and demanding he tell them what he knew.

My advice to the guy--in the L.A. Times--from Van Nuys is this: If you don't own a gun, get one, you'll need it.  He apparently doesn't have much sense of the area he's living in.  That Van Nuys is gang-ridden isn't news.  Of course I wouldn't expect a liberal to notice.

It is the same for any GOP contender: they are always portrayed as a nincompoop while the Dem is always portrayed as a genius.  Even when the data (test scores, grades, accomplishments) say otherwise.

Seems like a lot more people do now too. I heard that before her interview Paul Reveres article only got about 2000 hits a day, and after it jumped to about 140000. Maybe this will have a nice side effect where a lot of people will get at least a little educated on an important piece of history.

The video in question:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=oS4C7bvHv2w
She had a Biden moment and mangled what she was trying to say.

I expect Anonymous might show up at one of her bus tour locations with cap pistols and bells, though.
