I don't think it matters.  To the true believers, this was always a baby step towards single-payer, that much has been admitted by the lefties I know.  That it is painful in the extreme just means we'll move toward that goal even faster in their eyes.

I agree. The issue now is if they over-reached or were incompetent in just how far they went in intentionally making it "structurally bad" to force the adoption of single-payer, that we might yet see a rollback somehow.

Really.  I do think that there is a block that would agree with anything and everything Obama utters, but I gotta believer that this has been enough of a disaster, still on-going, as people finally get to see what their *FREE* healthcare is going to cost them, along with the job cuts.  Especially when employers say "We've got 58 people that work here.  We're letting nine of you go so we can be under 50." or "We're not providing insurance anymore, go get it on the exchanges." or "Screw it, were cutting everyone to 28 hours and hiring a bunch of temps/other part-timers."

Yes, the big ones make the news, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, UPS, etc.  But most Americans work for small businesses.  What happens there will be telling.  And what happens in Washington with Shutdown/Debt Ceiling etc. won't matter a hill of beans as the lights start going out one by one....
