Say, how does a second story jump compare to a parachute landing?
I s'pose I could look it up, but somebody around here may know offhand, and another somebody may also be curious about it.
I sure feel sorry this guy Johnson had such demons. I wonder how come the reattachment didn't work. Didn't Bobbit's spouse throw his away in a park or something and they finally found it and hooked it all back up?
Lorena's cut was straight and done with an exceedingly sharp knife. And she tossed into a ditch alongside the road. If Johnson used a dull(er) blade leaving ragged edges the chances for success get reduced greatly.
As for your other question - are you jumping from the roof of a 2-story building or from the second story windowsill? It does make a bit of a difference, as does the mass of the jumper. As well as their proficiency in tucking and rolling on impact. I went, for giggles, to the Army's "How to Jump Out of Perfectly Good Airplanes" training - not the whole airborne course, just the jumping part. Made the required 5 static line jumps - most were easier on the feet, knees, and back than jumping out of the top bunk. But then again, I was wearing proper boots as well as other stuff that softened the impact with the ground, as opposed to landing barefoot on hard concrete.
