Time to revive this.

The price had been holding pretty steady for a couple of weeks, but it's now on the way down again.

The station near my house is still at $2.15, but the stations near where Castlekey lives are down to $2.03 after having been stalled around $2.13 for the better part of a month.

Even better, the price of heating oil is down significantly this year. Last year it was costing Mom upwards $3.70 a gallon, now it's under $2.00. Still way too damned expensive.

Posted price at the Bucees down here was 1.78 yesterday.  They still have a 15 cent discount for using the Dow Employee credit union card also.

It had stalled for the last three weeks at $1.99 at the Hess just down the hill.  Dropped to $1.95 on Thursday.
Some of the stations in the next burg north on US 321 are a few cents cheaper.

OARP is dropping today. West Texas was down well over $1 a barrel earlier today, and gasoline and heating oil were both down over a penny a gallon, but all are recovering somewhat now.

Selling some of the strategic oil reserve isn't going to have much impact now. By 2018 most analysts suspect that the glut will largely be gone and prices will be back up.

15 cents per gallon or per tank?

(Imagining some station pulling the dick move of a $.15/tank discount, and me filling my tank in $.15 increments.)

Per gallon.  The price showing on the pump changes.  I filled up for less then $40.  They have had that going for a couple months now.  Maybe I should ask if the credit union should be raising the savings account interest rates instead.  I am not sure who is eating that cost.

It's nice getting change from a ten when filling a five gallon can.  (Or more often, putting the few remaining cups in the car's tank.)  It's even nicer that $20 will pretty much fill my tank unless I had to push the car to the pump, and that that's enough for over 400 miles of open road driving.  Even with my long weekend drives to north Dallas, I rarely do over 250-300 in a weekend, and that would assume either two activities in very different places, or a not-very-convenient place to sleep on someone's couch...and nobody to carpool with from Granbury or Weatherford.

Holy freaking crap, the market price of oil, gasoline and heating oil is absolutely skyrocketing today.

And I can't freaking figure out what's driving it.

I just filled up at $1.84 last night (before my discounts.)

Looks like that was good timing.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

You do realize that gasoline and CNG are not the same thing, and the market price of oil and related products are not impacted by what the DOD spends to build local infrastructure, right?
