There is a convenience store chain, Quik Trip that has a promotion with the local grocery store chain that for every so many dollars you spend at the grocery store your get cents off a gallon of gas, up to 20 gallons.

There is no limit as far as I know as to the number of points you can accumulate, but once you swipe the card you lose the points and have to start over.

My daughter works at one of the grocery stores and she gets a 10% discount at the store and her purchases counts to for points.  So we win both ways.  =D

Giant Food in Washington, DC, metro has the same kind of rewards program with Shell, I think. I don't take advantage of it nearly as much as I should, but most of the Shell stations around me are a pain in the butt to get to and their prices are higher than most of the other stations.

The Safeway near me has its own fuel plaza, and you get rewards for shopping there that can be used at the fuel plaza, but I hate shopping at Safeway, so I rarely do unless I need something specific.

I paid a buck-fifty in Gary over the weekend.

And $1.43 here in Illinois.

I have never paid less for gas in Illinois then in Indiana.

I paid 1.799 this morning at the station near my house. When I got into Arlington, the stations I see/use there had dropped from 1.839 to 1.779 overnight.

Tuesday I paid $1.45 a gallon to fill up  the rental car.

Today going past the BP in Glen Ellyn.  $1.39.

Although oil prices rose slightly yesterday, back to over $30/bbl. Gasoline stocks are at all time highs and Iranian oil is beginning to flood the market.

So, now that we're filling up cheaply, the White House wants to add a $10 surcharge to every barrel of oil. For the environment.

I'm not well versed on things like this, but can the Emperor do that without going through Congress?   Given what has happened the last 7 years, doesn't mean I don't think he won't try to.

I know he can't change the tariff rates, those are setup by Congress and petroleum products are too well defined in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule for Obama to start calling Oil "Elephant tusks" or some other such thing to get it bumped into a higher tariff category.

But can he use the EPA or perhaps some other minor agency to do to oil what he's doing to coal?

Damn, nice. Lowest I've seen in Northern Virginia is $1.69.

It just broke below $2 a gallon in my areas of Pennsylvania.

Dropped a penny overnight to 1.349.

Last year our state tax went up a dime, so it could be $1.249, so it also most to the average price range of 1980-2001.

Tulsa...Just checked around and in a couple of Kansas City suburbs on the Missouri side it is $1.21.

http://www.kctv5.com/story/31175411/gas-is-near-1-a-gallon-in-some-places

As you read the article is states that there is a place in OKC at $1.11 and most at $1.14.

This morning WTI crude is dropping hard, and is sitting just above $26 a barrel.

I really didn't expect that we would see that kind of price again in my lifetime.

Also this morning I passed the local independent cash-only station, where the price had dropped to $1.639. I stopped at one of my regular stations and topped my tank for $1.759.

Saw one analyst report yesterday that posited that gasoline will remain below $2 national average at least into 2017.
