you'd probably like after the 6 month long culture shock.

That's what my friends in Cedar Rapids keep telling me.

Funny, but I've been in Washington, DC, metro for almost 26 years now....

AND I'M STILL NOT OVER THE DAMNED CULTURE SHOCK!

But at least I can get really good Thai food.

I filled up the company van for $1.209 this morning, radio was reporting $1.18 in Tulsa
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Lowest I have seen so far is $1.19.

I'm shocked. Last I checked we were still $1.55

Usually we're pretty low on the prices for gas.

In the $1.95 zone for several stations I drove by today. Once again the barrier is broken for "never thought I'd see below 'x' in CA". Going to Costco tomorrow.  I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the $1.80s there.

Edit: Wow. Just jumped over to Gasbuddy for the heck of it. Costco and a bunch of the mini-mart places here are all at $1.79.

Usually the local Murphy is $.05 to $.10 less than the Valero & Exxon, but today they're all the same at $1.47.  Guess Murphy doesn't want to go any lower than that.

Lowest price here in Mom's town is $1.88. Most of the stations are right around $1.95.

Crude, heating oil and gasoline futures have a rocket up their asses today.

We are in Tucson for a week, and gas here is $ 1.50 plus or minus 5 cents a gallon.  Except we also drove by a Wal-mart with a Wal-Mart gas station where it was $ 1.27 per gallon.

Iran and Saudi's are talking about playing nice, hence the rise.

However, it's doubtful it will rise too much.   Everyone is pumping as much as they can to make money.  Russia, to prop up the ruble, American drillers are pumping just to cover their debt service, Iran needs cash to build infrastructure, and Venezuela is a basket case.

Prices will probably stay low for the foreseeable future...

Down to $1.659 at the station near my house.

Which means that this weekend it will be $1.579, when the weekend bonus kicks in.

But remember, American didn't drill its way to lower gas prices. That's simply not possible.

Heard a report on the radio this afternoon that prices are most likely as low as they're going to get, since it's almost time for the companies to start making the more expensive "summer blend".

That's right, it is almost time for the gas companies to switch from the more expensive winter blends to the more expensive summer blends.

Looks like Saudi is going to start playing hardball.  Looking at keeping production at January levels as long as everyone else agrees.

That's the big if. The Iranians have already said that they're not giving up any attempt to capture market share, which is a pretty good indication that they're not going to be onboard with this any time soon and they're going to pump like hell.

And, the Russian-Saudi-Quatari-Venezuelan agreement was to keep pumping at January levels, which are just a skosh below record production territory, which is going to tend to keep the glut, well, glutty.

Then there's also the fact that coming out of February and overall oil demand drops pretty hard for two to three months until the start of the summer driving season.

Finally, Venezuela is in such desperate financial straits right now that their only true option is to pump as much oil as they can, even if it means the per-barrel price continues to go down, and they know that they're screwed on that front, too, because their production has been plummeting.

They're facing the perfect *expletive deleted*it storm that could literally drive them to collapse, all because everyone knows that the Socialist cronies of the president can do a MUCH better job at running an oil company than can those bourgeoisie capitalist pig "experts!" And maintenance money? Screw that, you don't need to maintain this stuff! Give it to the people in the form of more free *expletive deleted*it!

Whelp... Iran just paid lip service to price supports, and the price of oil, gasoline, and heating oil are skyrocketing.

In the $1.95 zone for several stations I drove by today. Once again the barrier is broken for "never thought I'd see below 'x' in CA".

Right after I filled up yesterday for $2.119, I saw a Shell station down the road that had regular for $1.90 if you get the $6 car wash, $2.05 without.

I'm standing up as I type this because I'm still kicking myself in the butt.
