The stations near Castle Key's house that I talk about have dropped into the $2.40s.

The Citgo near my house? Still $2.60.

The entire purpose of raising the gas tax so high was specifically to address the road issues in Pennsylvania. They were neglected for decades by a long string of both Democratic and Republican administrations.

They didn’t wait till the ink was dry on the tax hike bill before they started raiding it here in SC. I haven’t seen one *expletive deleted*ing single  road project start yet that wasn’t already underway or scheduled long before it.

The governor vetoed it (he’s pretty good about looking out for the taxpayer) but he gets overridden by the foxes in the state house helping themselves to the funds

$2.759 at my go-to station this afternoon. The former go-to (and more recently #2 but rapidly taking themselves farther down the list) was $3.099

This was for E10 regular.

The price had dropped overnight so it was $2.51 at my go-to station this afternoon when I filled up my truck.  And about $1.50 worth of E10 spewed out on the ground when the auto-shutoff failed to work.  It had gone back up to $2.53 when I passed by the station later in the evening.  I wonder if they had to pay for the pump repairs.

Still dropping around here.  Down to $2.42 - 2.46 at the lowest price stations in the area.

This past weekend I went to Mathew County, Virginia, to visit friends who just moved there.

Gas prices were between 20-30 cents cheaper per gallon over Northern Virginia. Before I left town I tanked up for $2.24 a gallon.

For God's sake...

Gas prices in Arlington, near Castle Key's old house, are on par with prices in Mathews county. I paid, IIRC, $2.27 a gallon to tank up at the BP on Saturday.

Prices in Fairfax, including the Citgo near me? $2.65.

WTI and Gasoline futures are in absolute free right now.

Heating oil, too.

Oil has dropped below $54 a barrel for the first time in months.

It's amazing that less then a month ago, the WSJ column on energy prices was predicting higher oil prices due to the loss of Iranian oil, the continued decline in Venezuelan production and the Saudis hitting their ceiling of maximum production ability and now, oil prices are in free fall.

China has stopped import of US oil (IIRC 300,000 barrels per day), s we have that "glut" on the market.  In addition, the consolidation of shale and domestic producers after the previous price collapses "thinned the herd", and allowed the more efficient producers to obtain those assets.

Now we have this: http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/texas-is-about-to-create-opecs-worst-nightmare/ar-BBPWgMM?ocid=ientp

Plus when we went through southern Illinois going to and from Johnson County, I saw every pump running.  Usually they only are pumping when oil prices are high and they are shut down when prices are low.   So here we are with prices dropping and they are still pumping.  That's a real change.

Oh, and I prices I saw at the usual stations I pass on the way to work today were uniformly $2.29.  I will not be surprised if prices drop below $2.00 in the near future.
