Gas prices continue to move in very weird ways... And the price of oil has been sine waving between about $53 and $57 for a couple of weeks.

The Citgo near my house seems to be in an odd cycle of randomly changing the price between $2.39 and $2.45 a gallon. Only those two prices, nothing in between. And it seems that it will change 2 and 3 times in a single day.

The Exxon near my office, which is one of the cheapest stations I've found in my area, jumped up to $2.44 a gallon last week. This week it started out at $2.39.

Yesterday it dropped to $2.34.

Today it's $2.29.

The Sunoco a street nearer to my office?

It's been sitting resolutely at $2.59 for the past 2 weeks.

And the Exxon near my house, the one that's the only station on about a 5 mile stretch of road?

Still over $3 a gallon.

Filled up for $2.12 this morning.

Gas has been bouncing up and down around here, too.  Some stations up, some down, with little apparent rhyme or reason.  Our go to stations are $2.19 at the moment.  No telling what they will be next week (or even tomorrow).

Bouncing around here in W. Michigan too.  Last week gas was going for $2.12 to $2.31 depending on what part of town.  This week nearly every station is at $2.49.

Wow, 2 months since this was last looked at, mainly because gasoline prices have been incredibly stable despite a slow rise in the price of oil.

That's turned around the last few days...

Oil has been dropping steadily over fears of the Chinese economy under the threat of Kung Flu, and heating oil and gasoline futures have been plummeting.

Still, the Citgo near my house is stuck at $2.35, but given the week's movement I don't see that holding much longer.

In the past couple of weeks, and due mainly to the fears of the Corona virus, the price of oil has dropped around $10 a barrel, and the wholesale price of gasoline has dropped by about 25 cents a gallon.

On Tuesday, FINALLY, the price of gasoline started creeping down... a whole 3 cents a gallon at the station near my house, to $2.32 a gallon. I'm still wondering WTF is going on that crude and refined gasoline can drop that much and there be virtually no movement at the pump.

$2.439 at my usual station yesterday (2/5/2020). I went to a meeting up-state this evening (2/6/2020) and saw a non-name station at $2.419.

For now, ours is around $2.20.

But, GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! The Democrats are working hard to run this state into the ground and have proposed a $.12 gas tax hike.

Woohoo!

as long as everyone remembers that we can't drill our way to lower prices, we'll be fine.

Yesterday I left Illinois with 1/4 tank of its 2.49 high tax gas and arrived in Iowa with an empty tank.
I filled up at Costco for 2.05
I'm going back next week and taking gas cans with me.
I hate Illinois

$ 2.65/gallon this morning at the Marysville Costco, 40 miles north of Seattle. It has been within a band of $ 2.69-2.65 for the past month, according to my Fuelly data.
