There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

I was accused of being Vulcan or half-Vulcan often in the course of dismantling emotional arguments with dispassionate reason. I took it as compliment.

I also fondly remember his narration of "Mysteries of the Unexplained" when I was younger. As show I always looked forward to.

Thank you, sir. RIP.

So McCoy, Scotty and now Spock.  I wonder who will be the next to go?  I think Shatner is the oldest of the remaining crew.

Not by much.  He's only got 9 months and change on Uhura.

After a little digging, looks like Yeoman Rand (Grace Lee Whitney) is actually a little over a year older than Kirk.

RIP Mr. Nimoy.

I was a big fan of  STAR TREK as a kid and remian so today.

Shatner had problems with his weight even when he was young.  If you watch TREK you can tell how far into the series (season) the show was filmed by how ... "tight" his duty tunic was.

Very sad.  RIP "Mr. Spock."

I enjoyed spotting him in some of the old ZIV TV shows... Highway Patrol, Sea Hunt, etc. etc.

And every time, I'd say, "Hey, that's Spock!"

He's in a better place. But seriously, rest in peace. He played my favorite character on my favorite show from my childhood, and by all accounts was a really decent person.

He died from COPD. I take it he was a smoker (as was I) and paid the price. Although at 83 years old, I think I could live with that.

RIP Mr Spock.

RIP Mr Spock.

Nimoy is said to have remarked that he quit smoking thirty years ago and it wasn't enough.
Back in the 50s & 60s smoking was very popular.   If you watch old TV shows you'll see it; Joe Friday smoked in the DRAGNET series and many other contemporaries, and Tobacco Companies were big time sponsors of a lot of TV series.

So, I guess that means he quit when he was fifty or thereabouts - I have to wonder about the quality of life though, COPD  is chronic bronchitis, I had acute bronchitis right after I quit smoking everything for good in 1995   - Oh God I really thought I was going to die, truly.
It really is not a pleasant way to go.
