American Delta Party
« on: August 26, 2016, 10:11:45 AM »
Read today that Rocky De La Fuente (had never heard of him) will be on the Montana presidential ballot as the American Delta Party candidate.  He has run as a democrat for some Florida elections and now is somewhat associated with Ross Perot's Reform Party.

I've found nothing on the American Delta Party.  Anybody know anything about this guy/party?

Found his campaign page and this cringe worthy picture

Maybe he's running as a Delta because his previous runs as an Alpha, Beta, or Gamma party candidate were unsuccessful?
Trump won in 2016. Democrats haven't been so offended since Republicans came along and freed their slaves.

I'd definitely vote for the two sitting candidates.....

Delta.  Symbol for Change.

Don't know if there's any Greek symbol for Hope.

One thing I remember about Montana from my time there 10 years ago is the presence of apparently quite decent Democratic politicians...pro gun and everything.
Maybe a rare occurence, but then you only have to get murdered once to ruin your whole day.

I am not sure of a symbol for hope either, but there is the Gorgon.

Not sure, but isn't ξ used for a random variable?  Could make for an impressively honest third party.

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I believe that's the symbol for the party formerly known as Prince.

From wiki:

"Pronunciation[edit]

"In Ancient Greek, delta represented a voiced dental plosive /d/. In Modern Greek, it represents a voiced dental fricative /ð/, like the "th" in "that" or "this". It is romanized as d or dh."

Somehow, that amused me.

How do they know what Ancient Greek sounded like?

It's like a mimic "doing" his impression of Abraham Lincoln's voice.

So a modern delta should be pronounced "thelta?"

All this apart from the amusing words "plosive" and "fricative."

Make of that what you will about Terry's mind.

Need more coffee this AM.

its awl cpehkyewlashun thow:

"probably"

"more evidence that"

"bad latin/good latin"

"she argues that"

I'll go along with the poetic evidence, though, in terms of one pronounciation fitting the meter better than another.

(Besides, he said, parenthetically, I was just making a wisecrack.  However, this extra information is helpful, so thanks.)

And, he added with a grin, how are future linguistic analysts, reading this 1000 years from now, going to figure out how to pronounce the "^" in my first paragraph?

Or the "&" in "Smith & Wesson?"

Or the "(" and ")" in my parenthetical remarks?

Or the """ I just used.

Terry giggleth.

Anyhow, more power to the Delta Party if they want to CHANGE the direction of the country toward the right.

Less power to them if they want to take our direction still more to the  left.

However:

From San Diego
Has foreign interests
Described as "a progressive Democrat" in wiki.

Although none of those are inherently bad, all of them (pardon my well-founded redneck post-judices) are "indicators" that he is another leftist.

More power to him if he draws votes (especially electoral votes) away from... <ahem> that other leftist candidate.
