xkcd: I'm with her
« on: November 08, 2016, 12:36:58 AM »
Just thought I'd drop this here.

XKCD is a commonly followed webcomic for computer geeks the world over, but I think this is the first direct election statement that has been made there.

Don't forget their global warming piece...
"so I ended up getting the above because I didn't want to make a whole production of sticking something between my knees and cranking. To me, the cranking on mine is pretty effortless, at least on the coarse setting. Maybe if someone has arthritis or something, it would be more difficult for them." - Ben

I believe he also had a comic that supported Obama. Nothing new.

Said it before: xckd died years ago, as soon as he started trying to be "relevant". He had a good run, but people need to learn to let go.
Maybe a rare occurence, but then you only have to get murdered once to ruin your whole day.

I've always figured a good portion of his audience would lean to Bernie or libertarian. Gotta wonder how they feel about his activism.

I don't have a problem with people publicly supporting a candidate. It's their right. I can still find enjoyment from artists and content creators when I don't agree with everything they agree with.

It always surprises me when other people don't think that way. I tell my kid to never talk about politics at school because some people's parents take things too seriously and jeopardize friendships because of politics....and that rubs off on impressionable children. Before you know it you have even less communication and even more distrust and things just get worse.

It's OK to disagree.

There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Bacon is the candy bar of meats!

Only the dead have seen the end of war!

When I become Dictator for Life, heads will roll if someone disagrees.   >:D
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

It's OK to disagree.

Disagreeing is one thing; promoting the election of a candidate who has repeatedly expressed a desire to eliminate Constitutionally protected rights, and has demonstrated a complete disregard for the rule of law is another.

If someone is stupid enough to think onions taste good, that's ok.  If they then support legislation to force me to eat onions, then it's gone beyond disagreeing.

x2     It isn't like I won't associate with them anymore, but it says a lot about who they are IMO.

It is sort of like Global Warming.  If someone wants to believe that stuff and just favors research into cleaner burning power plants, nuke plants, or better solar cells, I can compromise with them some and we can all live happily.  When they want to establish carbon credits and otherwise destroy my way of life based on that kooky belief, that is when it goes beyond simply disagreement.  I am sure there are numerous other analogies, but I'll stop there.  If our federal government were following the Constitution and actually had limited powers, it probably wouldn't be an issue.  Hillary Clinton democrats are taking it way beyond live and let live.
