Obama Ends "Feet Dry" Policy with Cuba

Interesting in that he said he's doing this to make them "equal with other immigrants". I always thought it was more a refugee thing with Cuba given what can happen to them when they get sent back. If it's immigrants, he doesn't seem to be applying the policy to Mexicans.

That's because Mexicans go to Texas and California and become (illegal) Democrats, while Cubans go the Miami and become (legal) Republicans.

I can't help but think that, on some level, Obama thinks this will cause problems for Trump.

Also read elsewhere that fleeing Cuban doctors will no longer be afforded special priorities to immigrate - the Cuban government has been rather upset with the exodus of medical personnel.

Undoubtedly this is payback because Cubans don't support Democrats.

Additionally, I'm sure Obama also thinks it's unfair that Cubans get to come here legally while other immigrants have to sneak in. Just because they are politically oppressed shouldn't "privilege" them. The other immigrants are economically oppressed!

And, although I'm mocking that thinking, I'm certain that he had these and other motivations- pay back the disloyal Cuban immigrants (Punish your enemies!) and make it fair for other immigrants (Equality!)

If I recall correctly, Cubans are also among the immigrants who do much better than the average immigrant as well. Still more striking a blow for "equality."
