Regarding the lack of clean-up:  Don't forget that those libtards expect government and everyone else to take care of them in every way, including cleaning up their messes.

what i have been trying to point out to all of my D.A.P.L friends on facecrack is that if you drive to protest an oil pipeline or if you use your device or pc and use power- its all hypocritical- if sucessful in closing down the pipeline, all that happens is some other corner of the globe is polluted with no oversight

Well, they were supposedly pretty organized.  I've certainly seen large primitive camping sites left in much better shape after a week long gathering.

Early Burning Man cleanups might be a good comparison.

Key here is 'week long'.  The problem gets worse with time, not better.

With as many people there and the duration, they should really have been hauling out a dumpster truck worth of trash every couple days just to keep up, even if they were being careful.

People who think about operational issues like that generally have better things to do than protest. I used to live in a college town and these kinds of protests remind of protests and parties (often hard to tell the difference) there. Some were annual events (often environmentally themed), and every year left trash and human feces over a mile stretch of beach. After a while someone should have caught on if they were really concerned about the trash, but they were more concerned about the message and their rights. "Why doesn't the county provide refuse service for us?"

Eventually the county shut down or severely restricted some of them because they were actually becoming health issues to the community. There was great outrage about "our rights". Not much was said about "our responsibilities".

More environmentalism from the Standing Rock protestors. These are the same idiots that push their local lawmakers to force people to get permits to use their fireplaces.

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I really don't understand why the Corp of Engineers doesn't bring in a bunch of *huge* bulldozers, form them up into a line, and slowly level the entire camp protesters and all.  (hasn't Israel done something like that before?)

I bet they could find volunteer operators who would not stop for anyone trying a "Tienanmen Square" gambit.

Quote
The governor forced the evacuation so crews could begin the cleanup. Hundreds of large-capacity waste removal trucks have already carted out more than 1,000 tons of waste. Another environmental hazard is underreported: authorities have counted several hundred abandoned vehicles. The camp sat on a natural floodplain, and the work now is round-the-clock to clear out waste and debris before the spring thaw.

At spring melt the Cannonball River current is strong enough to carry these left-behind vehicles, along with fuel, oil, and other polluting agents, into the Missouri River. Thus, in the desire to prevent a pipeline disaster that could pollute the Missouri someday, these globe-lovers have threatened that same river with an environmental crisis that is more likely to happen tomorrow.

A Tribe Called ‘Debt’

For its efforts to protect the region, the Sioux tribe has incurred significant losses. The land they wanted to keep pristine has been befouled by the very people who undertook their cause. The tribe has also reported $6 million in losses at its nearby casino, largely because the squatters shut down the bridge that channels gamblers to its resort.

Any info on when I can expect to see this story in the MSM?

No later than the second Tuesday of next week.

Besides the potential for either premediated murder or manslaughter charges, depending solely on the skill of the lawyers and amount of legal fees involved, they left enough waste behind when they voluntarily left. Cleanup is enough of a concern. Why add more trash to the mix.
