Moar (imagined) Trump outrage
« on: February 18, 2017, 02:59:37 PM »
http://www.startjuno.com/news/read/article/the_associated_press-trump_exchange_with_black_journalist_sparks_outrag-ap

So a black "journalist" asked Trump if he would meet with the Congressional Black Caucus, and he basically said, "Sure." I'm just not seeing the outrage. If a baseball player had asked if the President would meet with the major league players association and the Prez said, "Sure, ya wanna set it up?" I just don't think we'd be hearing the same kind of angst.

All of which begs the point: Isn't a "Congressional Black Caucus" inherently racist? Where's the Congressional White Caucus? Where's the Congressional Yellow caucus? Where's the Congressional Red Caucus?

They were looking to be outraged.  It made no difference what he said, they would have been offended.  He should have run with it; said something like "I'd love to, I'll bring a bucket of chicken"
"It's good, though..."

I thought it was funny that Trump asked the journalist if he/she could arrange it.

I thought it was funny that Trump asked the journalist if he/she could arrange it.

Asked twice then told her to set up the meeting twice.  Then he went on to explain that he THOUGHT he had a meeting with them but they canceled it.  https://youtu.be/p_r2Hldgrng?t=2m51s

Trump doesn't deal well with things he doesn't know about... and there's a lot of them.

Oh, I think he knew exactly what he was doing there.

I don't have a problem with what he said.  He basically said he would love to meet with them, but they won't meet.  He addressed the question and put the questioner on the defensive instead of her trying to press him to commit to something more than that.

His answer was far far better than what past Repub Presidents would have said which would be some noncommittal nonsense or some version of "I am not racist, I have lots of black friends."
