Stupid question regarding NOOK and Kindle

Is it possible to transfer the books in your NOOK library to a Kindle? :old:

????

I have always regarded "kindle" as a verb, meaning to start a fire. And a nook is a quiet corner of a room or house.

Why would you want to burn down your house?

Different formats.

I originally opted for the Nook because it supported PDF natively as well as epub and a bunch of others.  At the time Kindle was pretty much Amazon only.  It might have opened up a little now.

I know that you can email mobi and pdf's to your kindle's e-mail address and amazon will put them on it.

I also have a conversion program called calibre that was free or low cost (I misremember, it's been years) that will let you convert files back and forth.

Free, and there are DRM removal plugins available for it that will sometimes help if you run into issues with that.

"Different formats."

That's why I posted a link to a page that tells you how to CONVERT the format.

Can attest, caliber works quite well. I'm not overly thrilled with the interface, but it's free.

Thanks guys, especially Mike.  I looked at the process.  Got a headache reading stuff I don't have a clue about.  I just went back to B&N and ordered a new NOOK.  All I have to do is activate it when I get it and everything downloads.  I'll call B&N and have them shut down the broken one.

What kind of third-rate author would offer one format and not the other?  :P

Both are ways of having an immeasurable library literally at your fingertips that even an old man can tote around. Anywhere.
