No necessary illegal if he has a trapping license and is in season...  And yes, squirrel poles do work.

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Serious suggestion I found

Lordy, Lordy, don't he like to talk!

About a 6 and a half minute video... much less if you don't count the promo crap at the end.  A good 2 and half minutes before he even touches a prop.  Finally, about the 3 and a half minute mark, he actually drives a couple of screws.

All the look, feel,  and excitement of an unboxing video.  Unboxing videos annoy me.  [/rant]

For those of you saying this product doesn't work your using it wrong. Stand real still with the box in hand and when the squirrel comes in range to chuck it at them as hard as you can. So far I've gotten three of those little bastards.

Start putting out corn.  Then hunt over bait.  Even if it fails, the squirrels will get too fat to climb up on the porch.

Is there any way to encourage more hawks and owls to hang around?

Otherwise, try mustard or mayonnaise.
