That lady who thinks everything is evil
« on: May 26, 2017, 03:28:13 PM »
A few years back, I came across the website of a lady that seemed to have written a different article for every pop-cultural franchise. Each one explained how Satan himself had devised said franchise (Harry Potter, Power Rangers, etc.) to drag unsuspecting children to hell.

But now I can't think of her name. Anyone know who I'm talking about?

All too easy.

"Rev, your picture is in my King James Bible, where Paul talks about "inventors of evil."  Yes, I know you'll take that as a compliment."  - Fistful, possibly highest compliment I've ever received.

No "lady" would show off her panties like that.  Not in my day, anyhow.  Nowadays....

In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking,
Now heaven knows...Anything goes....

That would be my former mother in law, although she never had a website that I'm aware of (she thought computers and the internet were evil too).
What we have here is failure to communicate.

Surprised that made it past the censors!
I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!

Looks like they had wardrobe malfunctions back in your day as well.   ;)

Surprised that made it past the censors!

My bushy-browed eyes caught the same thing at a later point in that dancing clip, but I didn't isolate its timestamp.  Might be just a cinematic loop of the same dance segment.  I guess the censors of the time weren't as good at snatch-catching as this old coot.  It's Bush's fault.

I'm not signing this one and I will disavow any knowledge of who actually posted it.

The Three Stooges were actually known for being "censor provocateurs" and sneaking things past the censors of the time. Nothing anyone today would even notice, but pretty gutsy for the time. They even made references to the Hays code.

Heh, "censor provocateurs."

The censorship flap over "The Big Combo's" oral sex scene (1955) comes to mind:

Quote
One of those themes is [the] by now dated attempt to portray something akin to oral sex.  Cornel Wilde, the rather flat hero of The Big Combo, was married to Jean Wallace, who at one point is smothered in kisses by the crime boss played by Richard Conte.  He kisses her from behind and then lowers himself out of shot, while Jean Wallace pants at the camera.  This was shot while Cornel Wilde was sent off to watch some rushes, but when he saw it, he was extremely angry, and apparently never forgave her.

But Cornel Wilde’s protest fell on deaf ears.  The director asked him ‘show what I have done?’ arguing that anybody capable of reading the scene as oral sex would not be shocked and those who were not capable of making the connection would be safe.  Director Joseph Lewis was also called before the Production Code committee [the so-called Hays committee] to explain the shot — one of the committee boldly stating: ‘This filth showing a guy going down on a woman is not for the American audience.’  Lewis butched it out however and replied, ‘That wasn’t my intention at all… if you want to imagine this, that’s up to you. But you never saw him kiss that girl below the neck.’

The censor demanded to know where Conte was supposed to have gone when he slid out of shot, and director Lewis answered him: ‘How the hell do I know?  What does an actor do when you move in on a close up of someone else? Go sit down somewhere, I guess.’

I take much the same tact.  If you have a filthy mind you might as well enjoy it.
