Red dot front lens cover woes?
« on: September 30, 2017, 07:30:18 AM »
Ever look at the new Aimpoint you just got and wonder why the hell they put on a clear rear lens cover, yet used a non-transparent cover for the front?

Wow, wouldn't it be great to have a clear front lens cover too, that way you could shoot without having to take the time to flip it open? Looking for aftermarket replacements?

Well don't, you can still shoot and hit consistently with the front cover closed, thanks to your nifty image merging brain function (and remembering to shoot with both eyes open).

Also, by having a dark front lens cover, you will see the dot regardless of brightness setting and exterior light conditions. Works great.

Trijicon calls it the "bindon aiming concept" and the old occluded eye gunsights  used the same concept

Yep.  Works well.

FWIW, I also shoot magnified optics the same way.
