Songs you can listen to...
« on: January 17, 2018, 08:02:51 AM »
over and over and over.

Ever have a song you love so much that you never get tired of it?

I have a couple, but my all time favorite, for many reasons, is Drive by the Cars.

It's pretty common for me to listen to it 2 or 3 times a day.

I honestly have so many from so many genres it would take too long to list them all. A sample below. I could listen to these day in and day out:

Annabelle - Gillian Welch
West Texas Heaven - Kimmie Rhodes
Who'll Stop the Rain - CCR
The Dark - Bones of JR Jones
Needles and Pins - lots of versions
Thieves - She and Him
Beyond the Sea - Bobby Darin
Out of Time - The Rolling Stones
Water of Love - Dire Straits
Greensleeves - lots of versions
Barbed Wire Heart - The Sinners
We Had Love - Magic Dirt
Shelter - Lone Justice

And really, a bunch more on playlists/media split between the house and vehicles. I've listened to most of these over and over for years and years.

Just about anything by Shadowfax.  But this is my favorite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDSGFIuwV7M&list=PLCNFJ7TeOWzb1K1R6NhVx_JVfx0jnvw6Y

Enya

Same with Nathanial Ratliffe and the Night Sweats along with Sturgrell Simpson.

Pink Floyd

Beethoven (5th Symphony and Overture Egmont), Dvorak (Slavonic Dances, 8th and 9th Symphonies), and Shostakovich (yes, even his 7th Symphony)

I'm sure there are others I can't remember.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,

Enya ;  "Sail Away,"  "Fallen Embers, "Pilgrim."
Celtic Woman; "Amazing Grace," "The Voice," and others.
Many compositions by CUSCO.
A number of other artists,  Quincy Jones, Oliver Nelson,  John Barry,  also come to mind for compositions that stick in my mind favorably.

No problem.  I just wanted to make sure I had the right group (to check out).   Notice that I have two New Age artists in my list.   I thought it might have stood for C-something, U-something, S-something, Chamber Orchestra...

Doc Watson - I never heard of him until someone posted here that he died a while back.  I got a CD and then a CD of instrumental stuff only.  Really good to listen to.  Almost blue grass, but not quite.

Roger Miller - Tomorrow Night in Baltimore is another.  Marty Robbins has a number songs that are close.  Rush, Smashing Pumpkins, and the list goes on.  The soundtrack to the movie Singles has some good songs.

It is a hard one.  I usually listen to just about any song enough that I will put it away for a while.  However, there are a lot of songs that I like enough to listen some.

Such songs tend to vary over time, but below are a few long runners and new additions.

Rammstein - Mein Teil, Du Hast, Ohna Dich, Stripped:Cover of original by Depeche Mode
Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a Hole, Ringfinger, Happiness in Slavery, Hurt
Röyksopp - Bounty Hunters, What Else Is There, Vision One, Keyboard Milk
Loreena McKennitt - The Old Ways, Lullaby, The Mummer's Dance
Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar, Got to give it up, The Boys are Back in Town
Metallica - Harvester of Sorrow, One, Sad But True, Unforgiven
Tori Amos - Leather, Crucify, Cornflake Girl, I Ran (So Far Away):Cover of original by A Flock of Seagulls
Depeche Mode - Stripped, World in My Eyes, Higher Love, It's No Good
Zeropage - Deep Space Operators, Tranquilizer Jam
Lords of Acid - I Sit on Acid, The Crablouse, You Belong To Me
Suicide Commando - God Is In The Rain, Severed Head (Vocals provided by Jack Webb)
Batzorig Vaanchig - Cengiz Han'a Övgü, The Beautiful Steppe
Judas Priest - The Sentinel, Victim of Changes, Diamonds & Rust:Cover of original by Joan Baez, A Touch of Evil, Living Bad Dreams, Love Bites, Electric Eyes, Worth Fighting For, Blood Red Skies
ZZ Top - Pearl Necklace, Got Me Under Pressure, Sleeping Bag

That does not touch the more esoteric stuff like Glukoza, Myriam Faris or Armin van Buuren

Roger Miller - Tomorrow Night in Baltimore is another.

I've like Roger Miller since I was about five years old, when I first heard "King of the Road" on KEX in Portland, OR.
He did a bunch of tunes that were just plain fun.

Trying to make a list would be impossible. There are a lot of songs and artists I just don't get tired of.

I'm guessing you are kind of like me. I kept one playlist on iTunes which was just everything I liked on random. It was upward of 2000 songs and I just kept adding to it.
