Baked ziti tonight...
« on: April 07, 2018, 11:59:56 AM »
Cold and crappy out, so that seems as if it's a good dinner.

Just going to throw it together, no real recipe.

Turned out rather well. I used 80% ground beef this time, normally I use either ground turkey or turkey sausage. I just don't eat much beef anymore.

I love baked Ziti. I usually use links of pork Italian sausage cut up for my meat.

SWMBO makes baked ziti now and again.  Good stuff.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

As do I. I will typically roast or grill them first for flavor. Much better IMO they just using a pan on the stove top.

Sometimes I'll also go a little Greek by adding a bechamel/egg mixture to the top, as one would with pastitsio. I find it to be quite a nice addition.

I normally add one egg to the ricotta cheese mix. That gives it a distinctively different mouth feel.

I really need to get a lp grill for that reason alone. I usually brown in a cast iron skillet, but flame charred adds a slightly different flavor.

I find roasting to be the next best thing to a grill. Stick in in a 400 degree oven till brown and delicious. You're gonna be running it anyway, may as well really get it preheated.

No, I need an lp grill to go along with my Weber kettle. Making up a list of excuses to spend $500 on a heavy duty lp grill.

Ours is arriving next Saturday.  This will replace a Weber tabletop Q grill that I have used for far too long.

I had an LP grill for awhile, a second-hand one from neighbors when they upgraded.

Nice piece of kit.

I didn't like it. After the bottle of gas ran out, I went back to charcoal.

Why I want to spend a little more on a better lp grill.

I don't think I'd be happy with any LP grill. It's still cooking with dinofarts.
