Poking around on something else, I discovered the phrase "Champion Trees."
Kind of interesting. They're the known biggest trees of a species and careful records are kept of them.
And there are Champion Tree hunters, where if you find a ginormous tree, you can take its measurements (certain specs and methods apply) and submit it for review.
You might even be able to dethrone the previous Champion!
