My father's day, so far
« on: June 17, 2018, 11:01:33 AM »
Hope y'all have a great day and remember your fathers and grandfathers both here and gone.

Not a good start for me. I had a bad night (back ache from an all day plumbing project yesterday that didn't go well) and I slept in a little later than usual this morning. It was already getting hot and humid at 7:30 when I went out to let the old dog out and give him fresh water and plug in his fan. (he has an insulated building with indoor/outdoor kennel). I had put on an old worn pair of crocs that I keep by the back door, a choice I painfully regret. I had slopped a small amount of bucket water and then managed to slip in it and send my 60 year old body airborne before crashing down hard on the concrete and pipe frame of the outside kennel door. Gravity is a real bitch some times. Nothing broken but sore as hell where I landed mid back/ribs/right shoulder blade across the kennel threshold pipe, right elbow and right hip not far behind.
Except for smoking ribs later for some friends coming over and a couple gin and tonics and NSAIDS, I'm taking it easy, moving slow and hoping the rest of the day is without further trauma.
What we have here is failure to communicate.

Implying that their old man is a fossil? How unkind!

Oh, a long long time ago I told my sons I didn't want anything but cards for holidays like Christmas, my birthday, Father's Day, etc.  I don't need anything, so why have them wring their hands over what to get me?

Haven't been to the PO Box for a couple of days, but got phone calls from each of them today.  :D  :D

Good enough for l'il ole me until I get down to the POB.

We went to breakfast with the youngest son and dil and grandson.  I got to pick up the tab.

Got a Nerf street-sweeper gun.  Then had a Nerf war with the 12, 6 and 5 year olds.
