Dude Wipe Recommendations?
« on: January 03, 2019, 11:36:16 AM »
Not that kind! Well, maybe they'll work too.

I like to keep some individual hand wipes in the center console on the vehicle, in my rucksack I use when I travel, etc. Used, for instance, if I just had my hand on a filthy gas pump and then want to hit the drive through for a burger, after I hit the head at the rest stop, and other "More than a dry cloth will handle" stuff, or where I want some kind of sanitizing.

The ones I use are those tiny wipes in the tiny packets, and they are more often than not just too small for me and I always end up having to use two. Any recommendations for a good wet wipe in a larger size that is packaged individually, and also not ridiculously expensive?

Can of Sprayway and a roll of paper towels. Multi-purpose and doesn't dry out.

Sea to Summit Wilderness wipes.

They come in two sizes, compact and large.

Heavier weight wipes than WetWipes and no perfume.

Wadaya? Some kine-ah sissy?

Just kidding. I'm just glad this thread is about wiping hands, and not something else.

Unscented baby wipes?  Fairly large, and should be available in small packs.

Huggies baby wipes are the bestest things ever. I keep packs stashed all around the house. I like the cucumber and green tea ones, but the unscented ones work too.

We also keep them at work to clean up dogs.

You either grab a couple of purell wipes from Jesus chicken or you just keep a bottle of isopropyl and a roll of shop rags in the car. That is my preference, good for an anytime bath.

I use a gallon can of trichloroethylene, pour a little in my palm and everything just washes off like magic. Just kidding, but I remember my dad doing exactly that.
Maybe a rare occurence, but then you only have to get murdered once to ruin your whole day.

A petroleum engineer friend used to do the same. Had TONS of the stuff!

Sounds like the old refrigerant, R-11.

Centrifugal refrigeration units use to use it.

Higher boiling point than most refrigerants, you could dip your hands down it and clean them or use it to clean your tools.

He used it for cleaning his race car parts.

I did the alignment work, a lot of chassis work, roll cage, rear flares and exhaust megaphone for the car.

It's the Yellow Bug-Eye Sprite #55, finished 2nd at Road Atlanta the year this was shot.

The body and paint was done at my brother's shop, Quality Frame & Alignment, where I worked as a chassis specialist.

Thanks for the recommendations so far. I definitely would like something unscented. While a jug of stuff and a roll of paper towels would work in the vehicle (I already keep a roll of shop towels there), I'd still like to go with individual packets. It makes them easy to toss in a daypack or whatever if I decide to go on a hike, or put in my float tube when I fish or whatever.

Search for "unscented travel wipes".
