This would be a rational response. I think he should be charged with the same "hate crime" the fictional white rednecks perpetrated, and do the same jail time they would have gotten.

I will, however, bet real money right now that he ends up doing zero jail time. It will be rehab for "a problem he couldn't control", community service, and possibly a fine.

Was just coming here to post that.... I'm actually surprised they hit him with that many counts and all felony... I figured a slap on the wrist at most if anything at all...

This is only the indictment. A judge can still administer a slap on the wrist -- IF Smollett is even convicted.
