I wasn't a big 90210 fan but I know a lot of people who are. RIP.

I seem to recall that he was a shooter, or at least used to turn up at celebrity shooting events.  Do they even have those any more? I remember reading in Guns and Ammo back in the 80s about celebrity trap/skeet events that were charity fundraisers...

A stroke at 52. Every time I read stuff like that, it makes me glad I retired early. Though just watch - I'll drop dead of a heart attack next month the day after I move into the new place.

I recently discovered a strong risk of an early stroke in my family history, so stories like this really get my attention.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

52 is too damned young,  RIP.

I retired at 62.  Everyone said I'd regret it because I'd get less SS and my company pension would be less.  I've been footloose and fancy free now for 13 years as of 4 days ago.  I have never regretted it once.  I'm not living in a cardboard box either.  My advice is to go the moment you think you can.  Don't wait around for a few bucks.  You may never get there.  My grandson told me about a guy he worked with who kept working till he was 70 because he wanted to max out on his SS and his pension.  He died 6 mos. after he retired.

A good friend from high school had a stroke at age 40.  She was in good health, a non-smoker, and athletic.   She has recovered well, and has no outward signs of having gone through it (though she has occasional memory issues and is now right handed instead of left handed (thanks to hard work with a good PT/OT crew.).  Stroke took my dad at 54.  Congenital veinous defect.   Sucks.  Age may not matter. Luck may matter more.

Dammit.  I call dibs on the stuff Brad doesn't want/take/leaves behind.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.
