Vonda McIntyre, science fiction author, is dead

She wrote some good stuff starting back in the 70's, and then got into the Star Trek body of work.  Died at age 70 from pancreatic cancer.

“The modern feminist movement was just gaining steam,” McIntyre recalled in 2010 in an interview with Gizmodo. “And there was a lot of controversy in science fiction about whether women should have anything to do with science fiction at all, which I actually found quite hurtful.”

A handful of years older than me.  Maybe she remembers things differently than I do.

She probably does.  I remember very well reading the history of science fiction and for how long it was (in the United States anyway) pretty much an exclusive white male preserve.
