The nickname policy has been against insulting nicknames.  Using their first name, last or initials to identify them is acceptable.  Using a nickname that the person themselves uses is acceptable.

I don't remember which politician, but I was taken to task for using a nickname that the candidate itself had used. I think this is a rule that started off with good intentions but which isn't as enforceable as its authors might have envisaged.

Some time ago I got my hand slapped for referring to Senator Feinstein as "DiFi."  Was scratching my head a bit over that one as no one AFAIK considers that an insult.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

I heard about that on a podcast from a few days ago, so it's not new reporting today.

Beto is Obama-white (or light), notice how he speaks in platitudes and cum-buy-ya terms.  He doesn't state policy positions.

Oh, and The Rightful Heir to the Obama crown, Joe Biden, looks to be jumping in.  However, Ol' Joe has a lot of baggage from when he was Senator to 'splain.

I'm beginning to wonder if I haven't, perhaps, been overly concerned about Biden as the most viable Trump contender. For one, he does indeed have baggage, but even moreso from what I'm seeing, his age is a big factor among a good portion of his potential base. Those people are going into the "don't trust anyone over 30" thing like a 1969 hippie.

Bernie grabs the leftist 1/3 of the Democrats
Beto takes in the 1/3 of democrats that want the second coming of Obama.
Biden take in the last 1/3 which are the "moderates" and other not ready to completely embrace the Bernie vision of a Moscow future.

Whichever one wins the nomination, it will promptly piss off the remaining 2/3rds, who will stay at home election day.

It's perfect....

Good grief.

"In his native [random language]," should be in every article about the guy from now on. It's just hilarious.

Beto is from El Paso.  Close enough maybe.
