ETA: ... and the clown car just got a bit more crowded:

https://twitchy.com/sarahd-313035/2019/11/07/white-billionaire-michael-bloomberg-is-reportedly-actively-preparing-to-run-for-the-dem-potus-nomination-and-para-eso-estamos-aqui/

I wonder if Sanders wants to take 95% of Bloomberg's net worth.

That one has me a little worried, at least if I step out of my bubble. I might think Bloomberg is terrible, and APS might think Bloomberg is terrible, but much of that comes from us having skin in the game on guns and generally libertarianesque attitudes regarding stuff like telling us if we can drink soda or not.

He is nanny state, not socialist. WAY too many people have zero problems with nanny state stuff, and think Bloomberg is very sensible on guns. He is also considered by many to be sensible (i.e., non-socialist commie) on the economy and taxes, I think even saying you can't use "tax the rich" to solve your problems (though I believe he is for higher taxes). Plenty of big city conservatives like him, as well as many on Wall Street.

I think I would rather have bungling Joe Biden as President, but I think the sheep would rather have Bloomberg. I can see all the never trumpers voting for him, as well as many independents who don't like the current dem choices.

But Bloomberg is a Republican!  He said so a few years ago when he ran for NYC mayor.

That might turn off the hard-leftists, which could make a difference in the primary.

So I missed the part where he explained that his armed bodyguards all have 3-shot firearms? Why was that part edited out?

CNN and MSNBC: Suddenly being a "real billionaire" is an asset to a presidential candidate. Warren and Bernie must be a little upset that their networks have abandoned them by saying that having $50 billion is better than having a couple of billion.

You must be referring to his personal deer-hunting detail, because that is the only good reason to be armed in peacetime - hunting. Specifically, for some reason, deer.

the Republican party’s concern about high deficits and mounting debt was a mile wide and an inch deep; when presented with a presidential candidate who rarely even pretended to care about the national debt and who had no interest in even attempting to reform entitlement programs, most Republicans signed on. Sanford made the unforgivable mistake of believing his party had meant everything it had said in the Tea Party era.

3 rounds refers a federal waterfowl hunting law.

No. In the context of this discussion, in the video of the interview with Bloomberg he says that a good definition of an assault weapon is any firearm that holds more than three shots. But (of course), that limit would not apply to his bodyguards, because he's rich and spayshul. My comment, to which Fistful referred, was a response to Bloomberg's statement.

Michael Bloomberg: Young Minority Males Shouldn't Have Guns

Michael Bloomberg Once Said That He Didn’t Think Young Minority Males Should Have Guns, Wants Them To Be Subject To Stop-And-Frisk

Quote
The links Loesch tweeted out point to a speech Bloomberg gave at the Aspen Institute in February 2015, where according to The Aspen Times Bloomberg said that “police should seize guns from male minorities between ages 15 and 25.”

“These kids think they’re going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed,” said Bloomberg. “So they just don’t have any longterm focus or anything. It’s a joke to have a gun. It’s a joke to pull a trigger.”

Bloomberg also stated the need to “throw them up against the wall and frisk them” and that in New York City “we put all the cops in the minority neighborhoods.”

“That’s where all the crime is,” Bloomberg said.

charb raises a good point. I guess Bloomberg also mentioned duck-hunting. So there are two game animals now. Other than that, what do you people really need guns for?

It's funny how they pretend to believe hunting is defensible while they're campaigning on guns, but not so much when some hapless girl shares a hunting photo on the internet.

That isn't the reason he got no traction.  With the media, Trump sucks the air out of the room.  No matter how much the media says they dislike Trump, the keep giving him free press and air time.  Also, Trump is pretty popular with the Republican voters who would be Tea Party voters.  Just horrible timing.  IMO, one would have to have pretty big blinders on to blame it on Republicans abandoning Tea Party ideas.

That said, this part of the quote certainly does apply to most of the Republican party elected officials in D.C.

Deval Patrick enters the race and the great mass (but not in Mass.) of Americans say...who?

I don't think this will bother Biden but Cory Booker must be having a sad right about now as having another black guy in the race takes away part of his voting bloc.

I had completely forgotten that Mark Sanford was the guy who got in hot water for "Walking the Appalachian Trail" to see his mistress in another country.

Biden thinks we should ban 9mm pistols

Quote
While saying he supports the Second Amendment, Biden called the absolutist arguments of some gun-rights supporters “bizarre.” Noting people can’t own machine guns or bazookas, Biden said, “Why should we allow people to have military-style weapons including pistols with 9-mm bullets and can hold 10 or more rounds?”

If only our soldiers in 'Nam had been armed with the deadly Sig 365 9mm. Such a fearsome weapon would have won that war in a fortnight.
