1.044" bolt
« on: April 20, 2019, 01:48:37 PM »
My lathe has a bolt that measures 1.044" across the flats. It could be metric. What size wrench should I buy?

Pretty obvious. You should buy a 1.044ā€ wrench.
I have a metric adjustable crescent wrench for that.

It needs to be left handed.

1 1/16" is probably your best bet, that works out to 1.0625"

I might not last very long or be very effective but I'll be a real pain in the ass for a minute!

crescent wrench won't work in this case. I actually need a socket.

I think it's a 27mm socket now. I didn't think there was such a thing as 27mm, but google says there is.

What? You can't get a cold chisel to it? Who needs a wrench? :)

Iā€™d just buy some bigger SAE sockets. Above about 19mm (3/4) inch is almost always close enough to work.

And I do have a 27mm docket. HF has them in their impact set

I have a 27mm impact socket because that is the size of the bolt that holds the crank pulley on my Nissan Frontier. Used twice, one to take the pulley off and once to put it back on. Probably never use it again.
