The NYT will publish an editor's note on Monday. No problem. It's all good.

So has anyone blamed the NYTs for the shooting yesterday?

Report: Suspected CA Synagogue Gunman Called Trump ‘Jew-Loving, Anti-White, Traitorous C*cksucker’ in Manifesto
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/04/27/report-suspected-ca-synagogue-gunman-called-trump-jew-loving-anti-white-traitorous-ccksucker-in-manifesto/

I say the above in half jest because of all the times the left, and right, has blamed something stupid for a shooting. Remember the bit with Sarah Palin and her campaign map?

There is nothing anti-Semitic about that in my opinion.

Trump and Bibi are very tight, though some may argue the roles are reversed.

Regardless of who is leading who, our President has linked our foreign policy and Israel’s foreign policy goals together just like every other Republican President we’ve had since I’ve been voting.

Are Jewish people the only people that we cannot satirize or criticize in comics now?

BiBi being depicted as a dog?

BiBi being depicted with an exaggerated nose?

BiBi being shown with exaggerated, evil eye brows?

Yeah, those are the kind of tropes that the Nazis used to dehumanize and demonize the Jews.

I'm just surprised that they didn't show the leash and Star of David in yellow.

Have you seen the depictions of pretty much every Republican President in the political cartoons over the years?

Big yawn.

Is it even possible for the USA to be more pro Israel and welcoming to the Jewish people? We are joined at the hip.

It’s a frikkin cartoon.

We can mock Jesus and Christians

We can mock Mohammad and Islam.

But don’t you dare make fun of the Jews or satirize them in cartoons.

I didn't realize that every Republican president was a Jew.

"Is it even possible for the USA to be more pro Israel and welcoming to the Jewish people? We are joined at the hip."

Funny you'd think that, given the left's seeming avowed hatred of Israel and by extension, Jews. Hell, even the left's Jews hate Jews.

I predict the lefts embracing the looney toons anti Israel anti Jew candidates will bring them widespread electoral defeat.

We need to hang them around the necks of “moderate” leftists.

I'm hoping that their looney toons embracement of socialism will be more than enough for that to happen

My theory is that they'll allow and encourage extreme craziness until about two months before the election.

Then they'll put a damper on it so their normal crazy progressive / Communist proposals will look more palatable than they have in the past.

Successive contrasts.

Just an operating hypothesis.  Good, bad, dunno.  But it's a starting framework.

Some Muslims and Jews sure do get worked up about cartoons.

When was the last time atheists or even Christians got so worked up about a cartoon?

Leftists also are amazingly thin skinned. The left is on a secular jihad to censor any number of subjects as “bad think” that are “dangerous” to the public. This goes even beyond cartoons.

Why isn’t the ACLU all over this censorship of a cartoon in a major US paper?

Ron, who would the ACLU sue for this particular act of government overreach? Which department is at fault?

This seems to fall in the same  category as Ilhan Omar's comments. If you have to explain why it's antisemitic, is it antisemitic?

I'd say the star of David around the dog's neck and Trump apparently wearing a yarmulke are a bit much.

It’s more offensive than satirization of others how?

Offending Christians, Republicans, conservatives, cops, the military are all ok.

Most of us here probably consider mocking Mohamed in cartoon poor taste or inflammatory. Yet most of us understand the implications regarding free speech that having some subjects off limits entails.

Are some more equal than others in political cartoons?

Of course I support free speech.  I'm glad the NYT feels free out its bigotry.

The star of David and Trump's hat make it look like it is aimed at all Jews, and not just Bibi, that is what I am saying.

What bigotry are they professing?

It’s a political cartoon.

How is it different than saying “Israel is leading our blind president around to fulfill their foreign policy goals”?

Is that an anti Semitic comment?

Cartoons regularly print caricatures of priests, the Pope, evangelicals etc.  and nobody cares.

This.

I really don't see the cartoon as anti-Semtic and I think some are over reacting.

Makes it kind of hard to justify criticizing their over reactions if we're just going to do the same thing. We have to be better than them.

The dog's face does look like Netanyahu, exaggerated yes, but it not really done in a way that's all that different from the way faces in 99% of political cartoons are done.

Makes it kind of hard to justify criticizing their over reactions if we're just going to do the same thing. We have to be better than them.

Its not about justifying anything, its about ridiculing and shaming them. See also: Rules for radicals.

"Power is not only what you have but what the enemy thinks you have."
"Never go outside the expertise of your people."
"Whenever possible go outside the expertise of the enemy."
"Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."
"Ridicule is man's most potent weapon."
"A good tactic is one your people enjoy."
"A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag."
"Keep the pressure on."
"The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself."
"The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition."
"If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside."
"The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative."
"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

This should be very easy stuff for the right to adopt, modify and use effectively- because the left can't meme.

Lets just agree to disagree
I see a political cartoon making a political statement and  just because I disagree with the statement it's trying to make doesn't make it anti-Semitic IMHO

We have to be better than them.

I agree, but that sentiment has fallen out of favor lately.
Everything seems to be Flight 93, winner takes all, with us or against us these days.
Lulz and Liberal tears are considered worthwhile endeavors.
And hypocrisy? It hardly used to matter, today not at all.
Taking the high road? I was for it before I was against it.
In the moral, catatonic stupor America finds itself in today it is only disagreement we seek, and the more virulent that disagreement, the better.
