Yet another Terminator movie?

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CjYw1hARhY

Looks like a quasi-retcon of the franchise, with only Terminator, Terminator 2 and Dark Fate considered canon.

Saw that earlier and was thinking
Does this mean we have two Sara Connors from two different timelines at the same time now?

This is pure speculation, but Kyle Reese had a mom (allegedly).  Maybe Dani Ramos is her.  If the timeline is a direct continuation of T2, creating its own canon and ignoring T3 etc, then the apocalypse has been delayed.

Then again, the credits on IMDB don't list anyone playing John Connor.  Who the heck knows what happened to him?  I mean, sometimes actors are not credited for spoiler purposes, so he may be in the movie.  If not, then my guess is that Ramos is either the mom of the new leader of the resistance or Reese's mom.

I saw the movie on the day it came out.  WLJ is right about his spoiler, if you read it.

I am a huge fan of sci fi movies, especially the Terminator franchise.  Having said that, this movie is a snoozer.  It has its moments, but there is nothing remarkable about it.  It's just another Terminator movie, with fewer action scenes than you'd expect.

I won't say it sucked, but wait for it to come out on streaming, and watch it on a day when you aren't busy with more important things to do.

Dang it, I hate to hear that. I figure there won't be any more of them with Linda Hamilton or Arnie, so was hoping this would be a quality ending.

The ending was decent, but standard for a Terminator movie.  No surprises.

Thankfully we only have to wait one year for what might actually be worth watching.

I didn't even know this movie existed until I found out it had a bad opening.

Did they do no marketing?

All of these terrible sequels, reboots, ret-cons - this is what happens when Hollywood just goes whole-hog on nerd culture. They've forgotten how to make movies for grown-ups.

I won't say it sucked, or not to see it, but I was not terribly impressed, and I am a sucker for the Terminator franchise.

I don't know which movie you are referring to, but they did a ton of marketing.  I saw a crap load of Terminator ads.  For the Ghostbusters reboot, same thing.

Getting 6.5 on IMDB so far
Usually movies start high and then drop somewhat so I would say it should settle in the the 5.0 to 6.0 range from experience.

It's scoring 84% (audience) on Rotten Tomatoes. Amazingly enough, it's getting a 70% from critics.

According to some of the talking heads on youtube RT has started filtering reviews/scores. Don't know if true but it wouldn't surprise me one  if they are.

According to The Quartering it's not that the movie is bad per say but "woke" stuff like this turned people off

Disappointing and irritating. This whole thing with actors, writers, and producers having to make antagonistic woke comments is simply stupid, both on the face of it and with alienating their target audience. Had Tim Miller not had a big mouth, likely few people would have made any "worthless broad" comments, or might have had praise for the character.

As we have discussed here many times before: Sarah Conner. Ripley. Zoey. Just to name a few. Bad ass characters who happen to be women, that few guys have a problem with. Mostly because they got to simply experience the character in action, not the woke prologue to the movie/TV series.

As I have mentioned far too many times already, this woke crap is really getting my goat with Netflix and Amazon as well. Two great shows - The Punisher and Shooter, were disappointing to me in their last seasons because of course the writers had to bring in the old white guy villains - Christian militia zealots in one, and deplorable rich conservatives and proud boys (by another name) in the other. This has been happening way more in the age of Trump, where these lefties just have to get their political statements into otherwise enjoyable fiction. They are doing it with Jack Ryan this season as well. The Venezuelan president, instead of being a Maduro/Chavez commie, is alluded to be a conservative/totalitarian, and the left wing socialist female candidate in the election (AOC anyone?) is who will save Venezuela.

I don't care if Netflix wants to have 90% woke content, but for shows that are obviously not designed for woke nagging (movies like Terminator too), can you just stick to the action and not have to include lectures, either before the movie is even released, or else every ten minutes in the movie itself?

The stupid thing about woke talk is it was already done in Terminator 2.  Linda Hamilton was the tough mother in that movie.  And in the 3rd movie they had that model playing the terminator.  No one really cares about strong female characters.  It is when people feel like they are being forced into the story that people get turned off.  Audiences only want to take so much politics and social commentary before they give up and stay home.
