Now I wanna move to Memphis.

(Not really, but the prices are nice.)
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Article is hidden behind a paywall. Can somebody just post a list of the cities and the prices?

1. San Francisco: $1.29M
25. Detriot: $47,241

Bunch of cities in between.

Headline reads:

Here's the town with the most valuable homes in every state

and

Using data from the US Census Bureau, we found the town in every state with the highest median home value.

These are the median prices of the Most Expensive homes in each state.  I'm not sure where you got "1500 sq ft home" from.  I see no mention of that number in the story.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

From the article linked in the original post: the bullet points at the lead of the article:

A standard 1,500-square-foot single-family home can range in price, depending on location.

We teamed up with Trulia to find out the median home value of a 1,500-square-foot house in the 25 most populous cities in the US.

According to Trulia's data, a 1,500-square-foot home can cost as little as $47,000 or as high as $1.3 million.

Pretty easy to make $25/hr average wage where I live (if you're willing to work) and home prices are between Memphis and San Antonio.
Iowa- 88% more livable that the rest of the US

Ten years ago, if you didn't want your house in Detroit, your only choice was to walk away from it (with the exception of very few neighborhoods).  Once foreclosed upon, you could buy one from the City Land Bank for as little as a few thousand dollars.

No clue what a 1500 sq ft house would cost in DC metro.

I know my crapshack townhouse, which I bought in 1993, and which is roughly 1400 sq ft., is now valued at nearly $410,000. Best thing I ever did was digging in my heels and adamantly refusing to lose the place when my ex and I split. She walked away (we were underwater on it when we split) so there was nothing to give her. I knew, however, that it wasn't going to be underwater forever, and I'd eventually come out ahead. I just never thought I'd come out this far ahead for it.
