Hoegel previously admitted that he intentionally injected patients with drugs to induce cardiac arrests because he liked the praise he received when he resuscitated them.
This is a trajedy that we can't allow to happen again.  Please join me in calling for ban on .....nurses? .... ???

Hoegel was accused in nearly 100 patients' deaths between 1999 and 2005 at two different hospitals in Germany.

He was convicted on 85 counts, and Hoegel admitted to 55 of those killings.
This doesn't say how many people who gave drugs to that lived.

It seems to me they need better control over their drug inventory.
Maybe a rare occurence, but then you only have to get murdered once to ruin your whole day.

I wonder what drugs he used? It would have to be something with a short half life if his intent was to resuscitate the victims. The article is somewhat lacking. Here in the US most (if not all) hospitals use drug cabinets that require the patient name for the drug to be pulled out and it records who pulled it out. Even with that in place it does not stop medical personnel (nurses mainly) from diverting narcotics for their own use.

I thought he was injecting drugs to put them into cardiac arrest so he could then respond and "save" them.

Potassium chloride?  He could roll his own and not use the drug cabinet.

That's what I understood.
