Organic brown rice
« on: October 15, 2019, 09:29:14 PM »
Mrs. B. And I enjoyed a meal of pulled pork gravy & brown rice. Until, that is, we were putting the left-over rice in a container. That’s when we noticed... weevils! Eeewwww!

Looking in the metal container showed more of them, as well as in the original plastic bag; a resealable one.

I sent a message to the producer stating that it’s not probable that we’ll again buy their rice.

High-protein rice, I guess. Many of the critters were still alive - no, not after being cooked!

Most grains have some number of weevil eggs in them because... nature. A nice cozy pantry is also a pretty good incubator. Easiest way to make sure they don't "sprout" is to freeze the container for a couple of days before storing.
