My meat thermometer has died...
« on: September 22, 2019, 08:57:30 AM »
It's digital, has the long wired probe. Decent piece of kit, got good use out of it.

Display died.

So, I'm thinking something a bit more useful, as in either wireless or blue tooth. Either way I can monitor what I'm cooking while I'm in the next room or upstairs.

Anyone have one? Thoughts?

No help, but am monitoring this thread. I have the worst *expletive deleted*ing luck with these things. I'm also very interested in a wireless option.

Here is a second for the Thermo Pro. I too have an older one but it does what it is supposed to, it reads the temp of the item being cooked as well as the temp of the cooker you are using. Even with the WiFi in my Traeger I still use the Thermo Pro so I can monitor the temp inside the grill.

Third vote for Thermo Pro. Probe went bad on mine (out of warranty) contacted the company about buying a replacement probe, and they sent me one for free. I know they're not super expensive, but that's just plain great customer service.

Thanks for the votes. I've still not replaced it. For now I'll probably just grab a very cheap instant read from Amazon to tide me over.

Oddly enough, a few weeks ago I went to finally toss the thermometer out and turned it on...

It came on as if nothing had ever been wrong with it, and it continues to work perfectly.

I use one of these in my brewing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NMYLXDY and it works great.  Mine doesn't have the heat shield, that must be a new addition.  I bought it 3 or 4 years ago, and I think it's still on the first battery.

How dare you assume my ambient temperature! You bigot!

And, yet, once again you're a day late and a dollar short...

No temperature readings for you.
